My Experience with L. A. Colors Pout Super Shine Lip Gloss Butterfly Kiss:

This lip gloss comes packed in a small, cylindrical, plastic tube. The tube is transparent and it has an off-white cap bearing the brand’s tagline. The see-through tube helps to easily spot the shade. Also, there is a small label on the cap, which indicates the shade name and ingredients list. There is a small doe-foot applicator attached with the cap. This applicator is soft and easy to work with, but it picks up only a small amount of the lip gloss, so I have to dip it again and again to apply it properly. Other than this, the packaging is leak proof and does not occupy much space. So, overall the packaging is basic and travel friendly.

There are total 11 shades in this range and I have got 10 of these. The shade I am going to review is called “Butterfly Kiss”. It is n*de pink kind of shade. This shade is flattering for fair skin tones, but the color is natural pink and mixes with the natural color of the lips. It is not much noticeable and it is like a n*de lip gloss. Only the glossy sheen is noticeable on the lips. It is good for college-going girls and also for those who do not feel comfortable with wearing lipsticks on a regular basis. These glosses are sheer and do not impart full coverage. So, ideally it’s not suitable for people who have pigmented lips, but these can be used on top of the regular lip color for that soft, healthy sheen.

The brand claims it to be a high shine lip gloss but actually it has a very soft and healthy sheen. There are some micro shimmers in this lip gloss, which are finely milled into it and do not look chunky on the lips. The shimmers are not really noticeable. They just contribute in giving a healthy sheen to the lips. It gives a nice wet look to the lip gloss. I have already mentioned that these lip glosses are very sheer in terms of pigmentation and needs to be layered on for the color to show up properly, otherwise it looks like just another transparent lip gloss. It is definitely not capable in covering high lip pigmentation.

The texture of the lip gloss is smooth and creamy. It glides smoothly on the lips without any tug or pull. The formula is thick and I would not say that is lightweight but it is not really heavy either. It feels comfortable on the lips. I can feel the presence of this gloss on my lips, but it does not feel annoying. It is not sticky like most of the drugstore glosses. They look too shiny initially and later on, the shine settles a bit and gives a healthy sheen to the lips. Though, it is not sticky even upon layering, it has little bit of streaking issue.

The harsh brush lines are visible on the lips while applying multiple coats but it can be managed easily by pursing the lips together. The color spreads evenly on the lips without getting patchy. The lip gloss is not drying. It is not too hydrating when this lip gloss is on my lips. The lip gloss has a mild vanilla fragrance, which is slightly strong and it does stay for quite long, so this can be bothersome for people with sensitive noses.

The longevity of this lip gloss is something, which has really disappointed me. It stays for around 2 hours on my lips. It does not survive even light meals and fades away completely. It loses its glossy sheen in the mean time and also the color fades away gradually. So, frequent reapplications are required. This happens to most of the sheer finish lip gloss, so this is why I don’t mind reapplying, but it can be annoying at times as it wipes off completely and does not leave any kind of tint behind.
