Lotus Herbals PURESTAY Long Lasting Face Powder-SPF 20

Purestay face powder visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores and sun damage giving you a gentle luminosity and the appearance of a naturally flawless complexion all day long. This compact is preservative free formula that also sets the foundation when used over it to give that perfect finish.

Rs 595 9gms.

I am finally reviewing this beauty and coming a full circle in terms of getting a flawless face. Only now did I realize that if your foundation and face powder is in place, it is long lasting, doesnt oxidize, your day-out is totaly sorted. Since personally, this is my first foundation that does not oxidize, Im very late to the party but Im very happy that I have found something that I can go back to and count on, without having to try numerous foundations and compats. Know that feeling? You will, soon, if you have placed your order on lotusherbals.com

The compact is an absolute delight, the moment you see the packaging, the satin pouch, the bulky, pretty, pink, mirror-finish compact, you would know that you have “invested” Rs 595 in the right place. There is a huge mirror inside which is good enough for all your makeup. The face powder compact gets a 10/ 10 for its packaging and is love at first sight for me.

Coming to the powder, I have never used a softer powder in my whole life. Why I say this is that this powder is of course in pressed powder form, but it is satin-smooth. No kidding there! The powder is soft as a feather when you glide your finger across it .When I say this, I also mean I have never used a high-end face powder but what I used to be happy with, are the Maybelline and the Lakme perfect radiance ones. But now, my definition of a face powder has changed altogether.

In terms of the job it does, I am floored. This powder can feel heavy, hence use a very soft powder brush and pick up very less product and then just go to and fro. If you are using the amazing puff it is supplied with(this puff is sold by Lakme individually for Rs.90!), then use it sparingly and cautiously.

The powder gives a matte, soft finish, covers light blemishes, open pores and controls oil upto four hours in my situation of hot and humid weather with oily skin. Im assuming dry skin would be set for the whole day long. The powder since so satiny, blends like a dream. it is so smooth that it just vanishes and no one would know you are wearing a face powder. I think it is amazing in terms of light coverage,oil-control and smooth flawless look.

The best part I like about this powder is that it is not chalky, no signs of white talcum in it. It is pure satin soft with no white-cast to it. So this looks very natural. Then again, it is spf 20! I dont know what else to point out in terms of the cons.

Some idea about the shade, this one will suit fair to medium skin tone, leaning towards dusky honestly. I would chose Royal Ivory to look a little brighter,  they have five amazing shades for all of us, Almond being the darkest one and Royal Pearl , the lightest one. Hazelnut star and Royal Ivory will be most suited to most of us. Compact Shades L to R: Royal Pearl, Bright Angel, Royal Ivory, Hazelnut Star, Almond.

The teeny-meeny issue might be the strong rose fragrance it has. That of course, is subjective. The compact is so soft that do not drop it, like you can see, mine broke in transit in spite of the satin pouch, cardboard and thermocol sheets. This should give you an idea of how soft it would be. Just a word of caution, this powder is extremely soft, and can give you a very heavy coverage and feel, so use it sparingly, with the sponge or a very soft face brush.

l-r royal pearl, bright angel, royal ivory, hazlenut

Another con I can pin point is that this gives an extremely matte look, no luminous finish per say, so for me, this makes for a great compact for oily skin, and also a great canvas for highlight and bronzer. You might need to highlight when you use this compact. If you dont like your skin to be too matte, then skip this one!

Top 5 reasons why you should pick it up:

  • Clean, very matte pore-less finish.
  • Extremely feather-soft
  • Gorgeous packaging.
  • Blends like a dream.
  • No white/chalky feel.

Top 3 reasons why you might dislike this compact is that you might find it too matte, too soft and delicate and your might have to use it sparingly because it can look made-up if you don’t go easy.

Last word:

My face routine is sorted with Lotus Purestay foundation and this compact, these are very thoughtfully crafted and that is what makes them worth every paise you pay for it. Great in terms of matte soft, feather soft finish, no chalkiness whatsoever, every skin type would love it. Now I don’t know what to do with my Maybelline Whitestay and Lakme Perfect Radiance ones.I will be re-purchasing this in the future too.

haina im so glad u r loving the compact 🙂

Rati October 18, 2012 at 2:22 pm

I agree neha, it’s quite soft. When I used it with a sponge, I dnt need a foundation and with powder brush, it works nice as a light setting powder. I personally feel it is more of a powder foundation than a touch up compact. :)) Love the packaging and great review. 🙂

neha October 18, 2012 at 2:29 pm

yeah that is the word “powder foundation” it can be made up too if we dont use it well 🙂

Neha i so wanted to get this during the discounts at their web portal but the passwrods came in quite late! Neverthless will pick it now! Sounds like a one stop shop for face make up but is it possible to get a comparison between this and colorbar triple act compact ?

neha October 19, 2012 at 2:07 pm

colorbar is way too chalky this is satin soft u know very fragile too 🙂

Althea December 14, 2012 at 4:51 pm

Neha is it non-comedogenic.
also did it cause any breakouts

Anu October 23, 2012 at 2:24 pm

I bought this one yesterday..but i have little difficulty using the puff supplied with it, may be coz I never used a foam puff, any ideas on how to use the puff? also can the Revlon touch and glow puff be used with it?

Rati December 14, 2012 at 5:00 pm

it’s best to use it with powder brush.
