I’m back with another lipstick from my stash and this time, it’s from our good old trusted brand Lotus Herbals. The shade that I’ll review for you all today is Royal Purple from the Pure Colors range of lipsticks from the brand. I guess it’s a new addition to the range as I had never come across this one before. So, let’s see what this one has in store for us.
Pure Colors is a range of exciting moisturizing lip colors. It has natural extracts of Jojoba and Aloe Vera. The unique product qualities are: – Uniform dispersion of pigments – Rich payoff – Smooth application.
Price: INR 250
My Experience with Lotus Herbals Royal Purple Pure Colors Lipstick:
The lipstick comes is matte, gold plastic case typical to this range of lipsticks as we all know by now. The case click locks tightly and has the shade code and name attached to the base. I really wish they had shade indicating stickers because at this price point and given the plethora of shades that they offer people are bound to hoard on these, so a colour coded sticker would’ve been of great help to find the colour quickly in the stash. The lipstick has a soft, herbal cosmetic kind of a fragrance which I’m not a fan of but then it’s not really overpowering and I can certainly live with it.
The shade Royal Purple is more of a soft violet in my opinion and for me it’s a very different shade as compared to the usual reds that I sport. It can be quite a tricky shade to pull off at times as one generally doesn’t come across such shades everyday. It has quite prominent blue undertones to it which I saw at the store itself and I wasn’t sure how that would look against my strong yellow toned complexion but I still went ahead and took the plunge because I really wanted to experiment with this unique shade. To balance out the blueness of this shade what I generally do is wear a pink/purple toned makeup and kohl line my eyes a bit more heavily than what I usually do and that makes the shade work pretty well. The shade would however suit fair girls with pink undertones pretty well and I feel girls duskier than nc42 should try it out at the store before taking the plunge as they might not be comfortable with the strong blue undertones of this one.
In terms of texture I would say it’s quite creamy and moisturising and makes the lips look really luscious. It keeps the lips hydrated throughout the wear time and there’s no need for a lip balm underneath. The lipstick is decently pigmented and full coverage can be attained in two swipes. It hides all the pigmentation on the lips and doesn’t highlight the fine lines.
The staying power of this lipstick is 2-3 hours owing to its creamy texture and it has a strong tendency to transfer so blotting and powdering becomes a must with this lipstick.
Summing up the pros and cons,
Pros of Lotus Herbals Royal Purple Pure Colors Lipstick:
Makes the lips look plump and luscious
Doesn’t highlight the fine lines
Cons of Lotus Herbals Royal Purple Pure Colors Lipstick:
The shade can be quite difficult to pull off
The staying power could’ve been a little better
Transfers a lot.
IMBB Rating: 3/5
Overall, I’m on the fence about this shade and I’m still not very comfortable with the blue undertones and rarely wear it outside. Nevertheless, for a hoarder like me it can be a good shade to collect and keep. I wouldn’t really recommend this shade to everybody but for the girls who like to experiment with their looks it’s a nice shade to check out.
