Hello lovely ladies,
Today, I have an eyeliner review for you all and this one is from MAC. Recently, MAC released an array of 17 shades in a new range for their spring 2016 collection, but luckily, this range, MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner is a permanent one. Being high on MAC these days (another review following soon :P), I had to get at least one from this range. Recently, I have been trying mostly shades other than black, so I thought about sticking to the blackest one from this range.
A kohl-like liner that’s sultry, seductive and a little bit scandalous. The easy-glide formula makes this pencil a one-stroke wonder with a silky, soft texture perfect for rimming the sensitive waterline. Its colour intensity and extreme depth creates a look with unparalleled impact. The long-wearing, waterproof formula locks in your look for hours.
Key Claims and Benefits: Features an extremely soft, gliding, creamy formula. Features excellent and even colour payoff. Features a high-coverage formula. Long-wearing, ten hours. Smudge-resistant. Transfer-resistant. Waterproof. Ophthalmologist tested. Safe for contact lens wearers.
Apply to lid directly (can also be used in the waterline).
USD 17 for .35 g / .01 US oz.
My Experience with MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner – Cat’s Meow:
Packaging: MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner in Cat’s Meow comes in a twist-up pencil. The pencil is black in color with a band at the bottom which represents the shade, but since mine is already black, it really doesn’t make any difference. 😉 The pencil is not retractable, it just twists up so one has to be careful with the amount of product which is twisted as it will not go back down, but it does not twist up easily, I have to rotate the pencil numerous times. But the cap shuts click and you can carry it with ease. The pencil is housed in a typical black carton which has all the details printed on it.
Shade: The shade I have is called “Cat’s Meow.” How does this name represent black!!! This shade is black and it is just black, not the blackest black. Honestly, I wanted it to be blackest black, but it does not have that intensity. Though the liner does looks like that in swatches, but the same intensity does not show up on the eyes.
Application and Pigmentation: It applies smoothly and never tugs or pulls, neither on waterline, lower lash line or upper lash line. Pigmentation is good, one stroke does gives color, but I prefer going at least twice. I love that this product is safe for waterline as well. And on waterline too, I do go over twice or may be thrice.
Staying Power: The staying power depends on where you apply it. On my waterline, it starts fading in just around an hour or so, and I don’t have watery eyes, in fact, I have very dry eyes (sensitive too); it doesn’t disappear but loses its intensity. On my upper lash line, it stayed for the whole day with little fading and no smudging. But on days that my lids are oily, it transfers on my upper lids. I basically bought this for my waterline and it really doesn’t impress me in that area.
Pros of MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner – Cat’s Meow:
- Sleek packaging.
- Twist-up pencil.
- Nice pigmentation.
- No tugging or pulling.
- Applies smoothly.
Cons of MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner – Cat’s Meow:
- Twisting up mechanism is not very smooth.
- The shade is not the blackest black.
- Fades from my waterline in just half an hour.
- Transfers to my upper lid on “oily lid” days.
Would I Repurchase MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner – Cat’s Meow?
Overall, I like this kajal liner, but I feel that various drugstore liners do a better job at half the price. So, I am not going to repurchase this again. I would recommend it only if you are MAC fanatic and like to try out every new launch from them. 😉
