MAC Oh Darling, came out with a collection last year and it was said to be a dupe for MAC’s Whisper of Guilt, which was one of the most popular highlighters from MAC and it was a limited edition product. MAC Oh Darling is definitely a dupe for MAC’s Whisper of Guilt, but unfortunately, even this time MAC made it a limited edition item, but there’s good news in store for people who could not get it and want it now – MAC is making “Oh Darling,” a part of their permanent collection. So, as soon as I heard the news, I am bringing to you the detailed review of this hugely popular highlighter to let you decide whether you would want it in your stash or not 🙂
MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish adds the perfect glow to skin. The liquid-powder highlighter, with prismatic reflections, is designed to sculpt and highlight your face, leaving a luminous, well-defined finish. The creamy powder formula lasts up to 10 hours.
My Experience with MAC Oh, Darling! Extra Dimension Skinfinish:
MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish comes housed in a metallic blue-coloured compact with a transparent circled area in between with MAC printed on it. The highlighter has a textured design running through it. The name of the brand and shade name are printed on the bottom of the compact.
“Oh Darling” is a soft, creamy with a lot of gold shimmer, but just the right amount, not over the top. It does not have any fallout and melts into the skin upon application. This is a golden highlighter with micro gold glitter, which is finely milled and would be perfect for medium to tan skin tones.
It’s highly blendable and can be used as an eyeshadow as well. I placed this on the lid keeping everything else neutral and it looks stunning! You don’t need much of this highlighter since it’s highly pigmented.
The texture of this skinfinish is smooth and silky, without any grittiness. It’s easy to apply on to the skin and goes on without being patchy or uneven. Also, it does not feel rough against the skin. I have many gold highlighters in my collection – MAC’s Whisper of Guilt, Becca Prosecco Pop, Laura Mercier Addiction, but this has slightly dull gold undertones which makes it different from all others. This highlighter is insanely pigmented. It comes out opaque when swatched, imparting a natural sheen to the skin. A single swipe adds a natural glow whereas you can build up the intensity for an evening out.
I apply this highlighter with a powder brush, though you can apply it as you wish. As I have mentioned before, it will suit medium to tan skin tones, but I think it will also work for fair skin tones if you like sporting a little “tanned” look. Oily skin would not need a powder on top.
You can apply this on the high points of your face, like cheekbones, nose, forehead to highlight them. I would suggest you to use a light hand to apply. The staying power is around 6 to 7 hours, not more than and that’s most part of the day and the best thing is that you can pair it up with any blush color to look glam.
