We all know that a highlighter is imperative to achieve that perfect luminous effect. A good highlighter can reap great results; however, if it gets overdone, your skin tends to look as if it’s soaked in oil. Undeniably, if used in the right amount, and on the right areas, it can make you look fresher and younger. If you don’t want to get into the hassles of contouring, you can still manage to achieve the perfect look by only sticking to the highlighter. This art is called strobing. A lot of professionals talk about strobing, which is basically only highlighting, without contouring. So, to achieve that perfectly glowy and radiant skin, I opted for MAC Mineralize Lightscapade Skinfinish. Read on to know how it fared for me.

My Experience with MAC Mineralize Lightscapade Skinfinish:
I have had a wonderful experience with liquid highlighters. Since I had been aching for a good powder highlighter, I decided to burn a hole in my pocket and try MAC. On my last visit to the MAC store, I was trying to explore the famous ‘Mineralize Skinfinish’ collection and yet again I got carried away with the amazing satin shine of Lightscapade.
The brand describes this shade as “soft candlelit beige with multidimensional shimmer”. I was smitten with the appearance of this product. One swipe, on my skin tone, gives a nice gleamy silver finish. Hence, Lightscapade gives a very soft silver sheen with gorgeous subtle shimmer when the light hits the high points of the face. This shade will suit fair and medium skin tones well but I would not recommend it to darker skin tones.
This highlighter is very pigmented. Hence, be careful during application else you might end up looking gaudy. It has a smooth texture and blends well on the skin. It doesn’t settle into the fine lines and can prove to be a great everyday highlighter. You get a nice, natural finish when you apply a decent amount of the product. Since this is a highlighter, it will take quite a while to get finished; you get a lot of product in one pan, after all.
Most of my highlighters last 7-8 hours on my skin and I was expecting the same from this one as well. But contrary to my expectations, it lasts just 4 hours. After using it for a while, I wondered if it would last longer over some other illuminator, and yes, it does. So, I swipe it over my Inglot Face and Body Illuminator. The results are quite impressive over an illuminator as it lasts almost 8 hours.

• Blends well with the skin
• Gives a very soft silver sheen
• Gives a natural finish

Cons of MAC Mineralize Lightscapade Skinfinish:
• Completely fades away after five hours of application
• An illuminator is required underneath to enhance the longevity
• Not recommended for dark skin tones
• Expensive
• One needs to be careful during application as too much of this shade may look gaudy

Would I Recommend MAC Mineralize Lightscapade Skinfinish?
Yes, but only if you don’t have a powder highlighter in your makeup kit and you’re willing to spend a whopping amount on a good quality product.
