Marc Jacobs has truly delivered outstanding stuff in the past for me. I still enjoy using their Lemarc lipsticks which has possibly my all-time favorite fall lipstick shade – “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” hence I eagerly anticipate their new releases. When Marc Jacobs released these new air blushes, I stalked them consistently in the store, swatching them, ogling at them till I finally caved in, and got one. Read on to know my thoughts on the Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo Blush in “Kink and Kisses.”
An innovative powder blush duo palette with two shades for customizable color that delivers foolproof radiance all day. Air Blush Soft Glow Duo features two shades that merge together, so you can customize your color for a s*xy, natural-looking glow. Achieve a dance-floor flush with this blush that’s infused with Japanese air powder for the ultimate cheek look. This ultra-lightweight, radiant powder is nearly undetectable to the touch, and gives your skin a radiant finish. Air Blush is created using a process called soufflage (French for “air-whipped”) for a silky-soft, cream-like texture that blends effortlessly with the complexion.
The unique striped pattern on this powder blush is inspired by a Marc Jacobs dress. An innovative process allows every shade band to extend beyond the surface, for even color with every brushstroke. Two glowing shades complement each other: the lighter shade highlights and the deeper shade contours. Customize your color by layering and blending as much as you desire to tailor your look for the occasion or the season. Air Blush delivers 24-hour blush wear, for glowing radiance from day to night.
My Experience with Marc Jacobs Kink and Kisses Air Blush Soft Glow Duo:
Packaging: While I have always found Marc Jacobs packaging simplistic in a very sophisticated and classy way, I feel they have outdone themselves with this blush. I adore the pebble design which opens up with a press of the clasp button. There is a decent-sized mirror inside and the compact has a nice weight to it, but it’s not heavy or bulky. There is no applicator provided which I don’t mind as I hardly use those anyway.
I love how the blush is divided into stripes of a lighter color and a deeper color each increasing in concentration as the strip widens on each opposing end of the compact. While the stripes are too narrow to just be able to pick up one color, you can customize how much of a particular shade you pick on your brush by concentrating your brush on that particular end.
Texture: This blush has a powdery feel (as supposed to some blushes which are so dense that they feel creamy to the touch), but it is truly the smoothest and silkiest powder you will feel.
Shade and Finish: I have the shade “Kink and Kisses,” which is a mix of this light pale pink alongside a gorgeous petal rosy pink color. This shade is one of those fool-proof colors which instantly livens up your face and gives a youthful color to cheeks. This is my perfect everyday pink. I do think this shade is more suited for the lighter- medium skin tone, deeper skin might have difficulty getting this shade to show up. The lighter shade has more of a glowy satin sheen (cannot be a substitute to a glowy highlight by any means), but contains absolutely no shimmer while the deeper shade has more of a matte but not flat-looking finish. Swirl your brush in these together and you get the perfect balance of both. The shade range consists of only 5 colors which are all very wearable in my opinion.
Pigmentation and Blendability: This blush is not crazy pigmented, instead it can be built up in layers easily. I use my trusted Wayne Goss Brush 14 (as if there is ever another perfect blush brush out there) and it blends on the skin like a dream. The light airy powder gives an even and smooth color to my skin without effort.
Look and feel on skin: When I initially go this blush, I was a bit underwhelmed. I failed to see anything different or unique about it that would set it apart from my other favorite blushes but the more I used it the more I grew fond of it. The best quality about this blush in my opinion is how despite being a powder, it never looks that way on the skin. It looks like second skin. There is no chalkiness; never does it cling onto any texture or dryness.
Staying Power: I was mighty impressed with the staying power. Being such a light color, I expected it to fade within a few hours but the color still goes strong for over 8-9 hours, which is usually how long I will wear makeup.
Overall, I am quite happy with this product. I will not hesitate to recommend this if you are looking for that extremely natural-looking product. I will also look into the other shades offered.
Pros of Marc Jacobs Kink and Kisses Air Blush Soft Glow Duo:
- Sleek, luxurious-looking compact.
- Buildable pigmentation.
- Natural looking on the skin.
- Never looking chalky, powdery or dry.
- Never emphasizes texture on the skin or dryness.
- Blends effortlessly.
- Gives a very natural-looking luminous sheen, does not look flat and one dimension.
- Beautiful range of everyday wearable shade.
Cons of Marc Jacobs Kink and Kisses Air Blush Soft Glow Duo:
- Pigmentation is soft and buildable, if you love your blushes to have bold bang on color you may not like these.
- If you are thinking of this being a two-in-one product with a blush and highlight in one pan, it’s not! The lighter color offers a soft sheen and nothing more.
