I recently got my hands on the new “Cheeky Glow” blushes by Maybelline Blush Studio. I was really excited as I have developed a new love for blushes recently and this is feeding my addiction 😛 I had earlier gone to a Maybelline counter to check for it, but it was not available, so as soon as I found it online, I ordered it! Let’s see how it was 🙂
Rs. 250 for 7 gm.
I am not particularly fond of it. I don’t know why but the white packaging seems too simple and austere. Maybelline always has had funky and bright colored packaging (eg. All their mascaras and baby lip balms), so maybe I was expecting a bit more, but yes, it is functional and shuts with a tight click, so at least it’s good for carrying. It looks pretty tiny though.
My Take on Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Creamy Cinnamon:
Finally coming to the product, I quite like it. First of all, the texture is very smooth, and there is no shimmer at all, which I like. The finish seemed almost matte to me, with a hint of satiny touch to it. When you swirl your brush on top of it though, a lot of product comes out of the pan which subsequently gets on your brush building up too much product, or flies away, wasting it. I don’t know what to do about that.
The pigmentation is very nice though. It’s decently pigmented and one swipe gives enough color, although it does not show too much in the swatch. Also, if you use too much product, it’s easily blendable so don’t worry, just blend.
The color itself is a peachy brown, when applied, it looks more brown than peach. All in all, it’s a very pretty shade, and I loved it when I applied it. Since my skin tone is medium dark, I am sure it would suit all Indian skin tones fabulously. As for the lasting power, I wasn’t expecting much. It lasted till 4 hours nicely, then started to fade away, but as I am writing this after 6 hours of wear, I can still see a hint of color on my cheeks, and I like that. I have combination skin, with dry cheeks. I used it on top of foundation.
I wore it with a nude brown lipstick (Faces Go Chic Hazelnut) to complement and it looked great. I am sure it would look great with all peachy, or brown lipsticks.
As for the ingredients, I know it contains parabens, but I did some research and there is no evidence of any side effects, and so I will not include it as a con from now on (at least for me, it wouldn’t figure in my rating). Until I see some peer-reviewed papers in a good journal that is.
Pros of Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Creamy Cinnamon:
- Nice peachy brown color that would suit Indian skin tones.
- Pigmentation is nice.
- Price is amazing for the quality offered.
- Staying power is decent.
- Nice day-time wear shade, with almost matte finish.
- Texture is very smooth and satiny.
Cons of Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Creamy Cinnamon:
- Staying power could have been better, but I use cream blushes for that.
- Packaging could be more colorful.
Overall, I mostly judge a blush by its color, and I loved this one. Maybelline comes out with very decently-priced amazing products, and I would keep purchasing from them. I would repurchase this in other shades, but maybe not the same as I get bored of the same makeup products. I would definitely recommend it to others!
