A few months ago, I had reviewed two shades from the Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick range. Even though all the reds in this range are quite similar, I don’t know why I am inclined towards this ‘Dare To Be Red’. Let’s get into the details.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick Dare To Be Red:
Packaging:
The packaging is same as the previous Color Show range of lipsticks. This ‘Big Apple Red’ range comes in a matte black plastic packaging with a red ring around the middle, which indicates the shade range. But, again, the details are printed on a plastic cover and you lose them once you open the cover. At the bottom of this product, the shade is indicated with a colour coded red sticker. Overall, this packaging is totally easy to carry around, and this range is totally affordable.
Shade and Pigmentation:
I love pure red shades these days. Dare To Be Red is a pure blood red shade with warm undertones. It looks extremely bright and gorgeous on the lips. It is a true red for all skin tones, but the shade has a little shimmers in it. Even though these shimmers are not highly noticeable, it feels a little odd to have shimmers in this lipstick. I love this fresh and bright red that helps to enhance the beauty of my makeup. This shade is well pigmented and only two swipes are required for the true color to show up.
Texture and Quality:
It has a nice and soft creamy formula that glides easily and evenly on the lips. It keeps my lips moisturized. Also, layering doesn’t make the application patchy. I absolutely love the way it looks on my lips. It also has a nice fruity scent, which is not overpowering at all. The lipstick has a nice non-drying matte finish. It gives a soft and creamy matte texture to my lips and it also doesn’t transfer much. It never highlights dry lips, but my lips feel a little dry after a meal or by the end of the day. Those with dry lips will require a lip balm underneath this lipstick. It doesn’t settle into the fine lines either.
Staying Power:
The staying power is really impressive of this shade. It stays on for around 6 hours nicely. It can survive a meal and it doesn’t transfer much during the meal. A little bit of transfer is there and is ok for me. But, as usual, a bit of color fades after a meal. After a meal, the lip color turns into a very nice red stain on the lips, and this stain stays until you remove it. It is really hard to remove the stain from the lips and you must use a good makeup remover. After 5 hours, lips start to look dry and a reapplication becomes necessary.
Overall:
It is a perfect bold red for parties and it looks beautiful on my tanned skin. Its smooth, non-drying, matte texture is superb. I am not super happy with the shade range, still this is the boldest of the three red lipsticks I own from this range.

⦁ Stain is a little difficult to remove.
