My Experience with Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick – Big Apple Red:
The packaging of the lipstick is simple and classy. It comes in a matte black plastic tube with the cap of same colour. It has a color-coded ring at its neck, which might help you in spotting the shade from your stash, but only if you have one shade from a single shade range. If you own too many reds, they all will have the ring of same colour. So, you will need to check out the shade name written at the base of the tube.
The cap of the lipstick fits securely with an audible click. The packaging is classy but it does not contain brand logo or anything on it. It has just a sticker at its base mentioning some of the details. But, the tube comes wrapped in a transparent packaging, which contains the details like brand name, range details, ingredients etc. Once, you peel off that transparent sheet, you will see this gorgeous and plain lipstick tube. The shape of the lipstick is typically bullet shaped, hence it is easy to apply.
Its bullet comes up with the regular twist-up mechanism. There is no locking system. Overall, the packaging is great and classy. There were five reds in this range, but when I spotted this one I immediately grabbed it because this time I wanted to pick a subtle red shade, which can be used as a daily wear shade. The shade “Big Apple Red” is a beautiful subtle red shade with some pinkish hue in it. It is not very bold or bright. I am so much in love with this colour. This is really beautiful and instantly brightens up the face.
If you stay away from bold red shades, then this might be your choice. It is a really wearable shade, which can be pulled off on any occasion. Pigmentation-wise, it is awesome. It imparts an opaque finish in just two swipes and hides all the flaws of the lips perfectly. It has some nice and refreshing fragrance, which is mild. Maybelline lipsticks always have a nice and creamy formula. This one is also great texture wise. It is soft and creamy. It glides effortlessly onto the lips without any tugging or pulling. The lipstick sets to a nice matte finish after a few seconds of application. A matte lipstick with such a creamy formula is something like icing on the cake.
I love the creaminess of these lipsticks. The formula is pretty moisturizing and keeps my lips hydrated. It does not get patchy even after multiple swipes. The lipstick does transfer but not heavily. It is smudge-proof, if used with a lipliner underneath. Without a lipliner, it may feather a bit. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
The lasting power is great, it lasts for approx.. 5-6 hours. It can easily survive a little snacking. But, with full meals it fades away leaving a beautiful stain behind. To take off that stain, a good lipstick remover is required. Overall, I am madly in love with this red lipstick.
