Hello beauties,

Currently, I am using Maybelline’s V-Face range and today’s review is going to be on their V-Face Duo Powder. This V-Face range is good enough if you wish to add a natural-looking V-shape to your face. Read on to know how this duo worked for me.

My Experience with Maybelline Face Studio V-Face Duo Powder Medium Dark:

Packaging:
This compact comes in a black and silver round container with a clear outer box. The box has all the details about the product. Inside the container, there is a nice mirror in the second tray, but I wish the packaging were different. I have to open and close the whole packaging to see the mirror. It also has a very nice, small flat brush that works well and feels very soft on the skin.

Shades:
This duo powder contains two shades in a beautiful V shape design. It has one light highlighting shade with some fine shimmers in it while the other dark shade acts as a contour shade. I have the shade ‘Medium Dark’ and it is just one shade darker than my skin tone. So it provides me with a very naturally contoured look. There is no shade for darker skin tones. These shades are only good enough for fair-medium skin tones. I wish the contour shade were a little darker so that it could give a chiseled look to my face.

This lighter shade works as a nice highlighting powder. It brightens up my under eye area area and forehead, but it is not an illuminating highlighter. Hence, it can’t provide that “glow”. I can still work with this shade. I can also mix both the shades together to get a nice compact shade for my medium skin tone. Both the powders work very well and the shades are decently pigmented to provide a light coverage.

Texture and Quality:
This duo compact power has a very nice, smooth texture that blends easily on the face without making it dry or patchy. It feels very light and soft on the skin. The lighter shade has some shimmers in it but the darker shade doesn’t have any shimmer, so it never looks overpowering on the skin. It provides a very fresh, natural look that is good for the daily purpose. The darker shade gives me a lightly contoured look while the highlighter helps to brighten up my complexion.

The powders have a beautiful velvety silky finish that looks good on my oily skin and it keeps my skin shine-free as well. But this is not a great oil controlling compact. It provides a fresh glow to the skin and helps hide minimal imperfections. I prefer to use this duo as a compact and it keeps my skin fresh for a good number of hours. The powders generally don’t crease or settle into the fine lines and are good enough for all skin types. As an additional benefit, it has SPF 32 PA+++ which protects the skin from sunlight.

Staying Power:
The powders stay on my skin nicely for around 5 hours as a compact. But after 3-4 hours, my T-zone gets oily and I need to blot it. Since it provides a very light V-face look, the contouring effect doesn’t stay on for long on my skin. It starts to fade after 3 hours.

Overall:
It is a nice compact powder that provides a fresh glow to the skin. It provides a naturally contoured look for daily purpose as well. But I have to say I am not happy with the shade range.

Will I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline Face Studio V-Face Duo Powder Medium Dark?
I am not sure about repurchasing this duo. It doesn’t really serve the purpose. You can give this duo a try if you have fair-medium skin tone but I recommend it only as a compact powder. If you’re really interested in this duo, give the shades a try at the store before buying.
