My Experience with Maybelline The Powder Mattes Colorsensational Lipstick Noir Red:

The packaging of the lipstick is nice, comes in the regular Maybelline Colorsensational packaging. The lipstick tube is rectangular, which comes wrapped in a cellophane paper bearing the product description, ingredients list, etc. The tube has a mirror finish and closes with a long plastic cap.

The cap is color-coded according to the color family that the lipstick belongs to. As “Red Noir” belongs to the “red” family, its cap is dark red in color. Also, there is a color-coded sticker at the base of the lipstick tube, which bears the shade name. The cap of the lipstick shuts securely and does not come off while carrying around. The brand’s tagline is printed on the lipstick tube with simple black fonts. Overall, I do not find any flaw with the packaging of the product. It is nice and travel friendly.

“Noir Red” is quite a different red from the usual red lipsticks that I own. It looks kind of a boring red color, not too vibrant and can be used anytime of the day. The shade will flatter every complexion very well. This is a dull red lipstick, but I still like the color on my lips. It does not contain any shimmer or chunky glitter and has a nice powder matte finish. Though, it looks slightly shiny initially, it settles down to a perfect powdery matte finish within seconds.

The formula is decently pigmented and capable of hiding pigmented lips very well in just two swipes. It gives semi-opaque coverage in a single swipe and the color is easily buildable. Just two-three swipes are good enough for perfect opaque and even finish.

I have fallen in love with the texture of these lipsticks. Normally, matte lipsticks tend to have a dry texture but these are quite different. They are incredibly soft, smooth and glide on the lips like a dream without causing any tugging or pulling. Despite being so creamy smooth in texture, the lipstick bullet does not break or melt. I am also glad with the fact that these lipsticks do not break or detach from the base. The formula is great but it has a tendency to cling on to dry patches of the lips (almost every matte lipstick does that). Therefore, prepping lips prior to application is necessary.

The color does not settle into the fine lines of the lips. The formula is feathery light and feels ultra comfortable on the lips. It almost feels like nothing on the lips. The lipstick is not really moisturizing nor drying, but still, I prefer using a lip balm underneath. The formula is smudge proof and the color does not smudge even after heavy meals. It does not transfer heavily either.

The lasting power is 4-5 hours on my lips with slight fading with continuous sipping of water. The lipstick does not survive heavy meals and fades away evenly leaving a red tint behind. I am actually not a fan of lip tints, so I opt for reapplication immediately.
