Melascreen Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 18
I was prescribed Melascreen sunscreen by my dermatologist whom I had consulted for acne. When he reinforced to me the importance of using a sunscreen on a daily basis, I told him that almost all sunscreens I had used made my acne condition worse and made my face terribly oily. It was then that he prescribed Melascreen with SPF 18 and advised me to re-apply after every few hours. Melascreen is one of the best “stand-alone” sunscreens that I have used and here’s the review.

My Take on Melascreen Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 18:
Melascreen is a very plain-looking “small” bottle of sunscreen, which can easily be carried around in small purses and handbags. The sunscreen itself is off-white in colour and appears to be “tinted.” It is of very runny consistency because of which there is no trouble applying it on. Melascreen smells strongly of lacto calamine lotion and the scent stays on for a pretty long time. Usually, with most of the sunscreens, my face becomes oily the instant I put it on and remains greasy throughout. Melascreen is different in the regard that it does not make my face greasy or cause my face to melt. It goes on matte and with compact, it just stays without forming any sort of greasy layer. Most importantly, when compared to the other sunscreens that I have used, Melascreen has not caused me to have any breakouts. With Melascreen on, I feel much more brave to face the sun because I have had not any tanning or sunburning issues after using it. Though, it is not mentioned anywhere, I do think it is non-pore blocking. Overall, I am pretty satisfied using this sunscreen, but the only drawback with Melascreen is that the SPF is only of 18 whereas there are other sunscreens available in the market that have SPF up to 100.

• A sunscreen that goes matte on the face and does not form any sort of oily or greasy layer.
• Does not melt down the face.
• Does not clog pores.
• Does not cause any breakouts.
• Acts effectively as a sunscreen.
Cons of Melascreen Sunscreen Lotion
• This sunscreen smells very very strongly of “lacto calamine” and after wearing this sunscreen, I just feel like a lacto calamine bottle myself 😐
• Has SPF of only 18. There are sunscreens in the market that have SPF of more than 100 and 18 is a such a small number before them.
Will I Buy Again?
Yes, but I do hope they increase their SPF factor and if they have already increased, I would like to buy it.
IMBB Rating: 3/5: -1 for stinking like lacto calamine and another -1 for low SPF factor.

Visakhi…….I have had issues with most sunscreens…..they break me out…..this one I am using because ek tho its matte and the other thing is I have had no zits and it has been prescribed by a doctor, so I am like happy using it O:) O:) O:) O:)

This question have been on my mind for long.. i apply the sunscreen after washing my face.. and after that follow with my usual compact powder/lotion and blush. now how can we reapply sunscreen above this periodically :waaa: . i mean is it okie to apply it over the makeup after 3-4 hours???

nAHIN gurpreet….I don’t think so….you have to wash your face and then apply…if you keep applying over your other creams and foundation……it will definiately give you zits and acne O:) O:) O:) O:)

nice review, is it as matte as lotus 3 in 1 sunblock. and do u apply a moisyuriser underneath this, which 1 do u use
no chandana….I don’t use any moisturizer when I am using a sunscreen because as it is my skin is oily, just using a sunscreen pretty much takes care of dry patches….so I don’t need any additional moisturization. I use clean and clear moisturizer compulsorily when I use any kind of foundation O:)

Yes, Shaili…do visit a derma….because for skin types like ours na……medicated ones with special formulas work better…the general sunscreens available in the market make my condition worse….
