Missha Self Nail Salon Remover Review

This is my first time reviewing a nail paint remover by a Korean brand. I usually get one from my local drugstore and not really put a lot of thought in its quality or performance. In my recent Korean makeup haul, I decided to add a nail paint remover as well and see if they are gentler than the usual drugstore ones I buy. I bought two: one by the brand Missha and other by Etude House. In this post, I review the former.

Product Description:
Self Nail Salon Remover is easily to clean nail color. Extract green tea, borocolli, orange protect nails and care.

How to Use:
1. Pour moderate amount on cotton pad and soak to cotton pad.

My Experience with Missha Self Nail Salon Remover:

I do not wear nail paints often because first, I don’t like the nail paint removal process. Second, I don’t wear rubber gloves while doing my dishes or cleaning my house and that ruins the nail paint and chips it. However, I do need nail paint remover for the occasions when I do have to remove nail paint or clean up messy nail job.

The product comes in a clear, plastic bottle with a white cap on top. Packaging is a big let-down because the opening dispenses a lot of product at a time and causes a lot of spillage. I wish it had a smaller opening or a spray nozzle or something to prevent product wastage.

The biggest disadvantage of the product is that the ingredient list is not disclosed in English. I am not sure if and how much acetone it contains. But I am sure that it does contain acetone (has a subtle acetone smell), the percentage is not disclosed in English. All those who vary of using acetone on their skin should avoid it.

The consistency of the product is like water or rather the usual nail paint remover. The product is green in color and sits well with its claim of containing green tea extract. I soak a cotton pad with the product and let it sit on my nails for a minute. This loosens up the color and then it comes off with gentle rubbing.

It can be used to remove gel nail paints except that it will take much longer soaking (wrap the nails in the cotton balls soaked in the remover) and then vigorously rub them to get rid of the color. It might not give good performance with gel or powder nail paints since they need more potent remover but it worked really well with the regular nail paints. It also has a fresh, green tea aroma which masks the acetone fragrance well.
