Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Review

Product Sponsored by IMBB

If you are into Korean skincare, you must have heard about the brand Missha, and about their “First Treatment Essence.” Now, the “first treatment essences” are all over and even the western brands have come up with their own essence formulas. But the first essence was reportedly made by a Japanese brand SK-II, but it’s so expensive. So many brands have come up with dupes for SK-II essence and the most popular one from all of them is by Missha. This is such a popular product, but I was skeptical about buying it because a lot of popular and cult products have proved to be dud for me! Let us see how this treatment essence worked for me.

My Experience with Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence:

The first Missha Essence was introduced nearly 6 years ago, and they have re-formulated the original version. This particular version is “intensive moist” and there is an “intensive” variant too. I have wanted to get this essence for a long time, but I was worried that this might not suit my skin, hence I tried out a few samples for a few weeks and because I was satisfied with the product, I was ready to buy it.

This essence is basically a fermented essence comprising 90% saccharomyces ferment filtrate. Most of these first essences available in the market will make you want to open your long last botany book, so many yeasts to remember! SK-II even had a long story in their website about their star ingredient, and it is priced above 150 USD. So, let us talk about Missha essence alone in this review now.

Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence bottle

This essence comes in a beautiful, sturdy glass bottle. The transparent glass bottle makes it easy to guess the product remaining inside the bottle. It comes with a twist-on plastic cap, and the bottle has a small opening to dispense the product. This makes it easy to take the essence in your hand, and you won’t spill out the month worth essence in a single go.

The essence is clear, watery and runny. It has a very faint smell which smells like nothing I have smelt before, but it is very mild and not bothersome. I use the essence with a cotton pad sometimes, and mostly, I use this with my palms. I take a small amount of it and gently slather it on my face. It must be used as a first step after cleansing, and even before toner. Because in Korean skincare, toners are usually thicker, this is possible.

Immediately after applying on to my face, it gets absorbed, but doesn’t dry on my face. It never feels dry on my skin because it simply never actually dries out. Even after patting it on to my face, it will give a satin finish, so you can say that I was blown over with the very first use.

It also gave a very soft glow to my face with every use, and even just after a week of using it every morning and night, I was able to see that it had brightened my skin (not to be confused with reducing hyperpigmentation and any whitening effect).

It hydrates my skin really well and that could be the reason for the brightening effect. I have been using it for a month now, and only a small amount of product has been consumed, which is a great plus. This one bottle might last for a few months for me.

Also, after a month long use, I could say that it is really a miracle product! It did not help with my acne scars that much, but it had smoothed them out. You know when acne leaves your skin texture uneven, this might be helpful. I have used many other alternatives for SK-II essence – like the first essence from Secret Key and Mizon, but this essence works better than them. Worth every penny!

Pros of Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence:

  • Provides good hydration for the skin without making it oily.
  • Effect was immediate on my skin (though subtle).
  • It gives a brightening effect within a few weeks.
  • The skin texture becomes smooth after a month or so.
  • This one bottle will last for months.

Cons of Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence:

  • The effect seems to reduce a bit if you stop using the essence.

IMBB Rating:
5/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence?
Yes! I would buy this again and again. I would highly recommend this product. I would also suggest buying a few samples or a deluxe sample before taking the plunge because some might be allergic to the fermented ingredients.

  1. Vaishnavie, I have used SK-II treatment essence and it absolutely refines skin’s texture, but since this is well priced and works in the same way, it’s better to pick this one up 🙂

    1. I have not used the SK-II one. But I have read so many good reviews on it. May be one day i will get that. Someday! Until then I am good with the dupe of it 🙂

    1. Oh no! But most of the Korean products are a hit or a miss. One might rave about it and one might curse it. But it would really hurt our wallets if it doesn’t work. Getting samples helps a lot. The cute packaging wins though.:(
