Skin-type: Combination and acne-prone
Skin-tone: Fair to medium
Summer is already here and now my skin has started to show the oily side. I don’t really have cream or powdered foundations because I am all into the full coverage liquid ones. So I was hunting for a good setting powder to mattify my oily skin and to keep the make-up from melting off in the hot summer days. And since this looked like a new launch, I planned on picking this up. So let’s see how it worked for my skin.
Price: 3 GBP/Rs 300 on their website (Retails at Rs 750)
Product Description by MUA:
A super light-weight setting powder infused with vitamin E and jojoba for a soft, nourishing and natural finish. The sheer coverage is suitable for multiple skin-tones and can be worn alone or over foundation to set and remove shine.

My Experience with MUA Skin Define Hydro Setting Powder:
MUA has quite a lot of products in their new skin define range but right now, I planned to pick just this one up.
Packaging: The pressed setting powder comes in a compact white pan with a see-through packaging which gives a
visibility of the shade. But there is no need since they have just one shade which is suitable for all the skin-tones. It has a nice drop embossed over it which gives that hydro feel. The pan is really compact which is great for travels since it fits anywhere easily. But the only flaw with the packaging is that despite charging a very high amount they did not add a mirror and an applicator sponge. This was slightly disappointing for me.
Shade, Texture and Pigmentation: The shade looked pretty white when I opened this powder but when applied it acted just like talc. As talc goes with all the skin-tones, this too works the same way. The only trick is not to over-apply this one and blend it perfectly on the skin. It does not leave any white cast on the face. It has a sheer coverage like the description says and won’t cover any imperfections and I don’t mind since it does not claim so. The texture is very smooth since the powder is finely milled. It goes on very gentle on the skin. It does not make me look cakey or layered up.

Results: I use it over my liquid foundation which looks a bit greasy on me. But this setting powder works like magic on it. It mattifies the entire look like it claims and takes away all the excess shine. It also transforms the greasy look into a perfect matte look. It increases the staying power of the liquid foundation as well. It does not nourish my skin up to a very good extent but does not make my skin dry too. It keeps the foundation in its place without changing the colour of my foundation. I wouldn’t prefer wearing it alone because it makes no difference but I like wearing this over my foundation to set it. But I think it is pretty expensive since I get same effects with the Lakme 9 to 5 mattifying compact.

Will I Repurchase/Recommend MUA Skin Define Hydro Setting Powder?
I won’t get it again because I use it only when I use a foundation and hence it will go a long way. I won’t recommend it either because I think I liked the Maybelline white super fresh compact more which works in the same way and costs a lot lower than this one.
I am happy that MUA has recently launched so many new products!
