It has been a while now that I have reviewed any makeup product, so let’s just take a break from all the skincare rambling for now and discuss one of my favorite lip products. I have been a huge NARS lip pencil fan for a while now – the first shade that I bought was Yu and since then my love for NARS lip pencils has been growing and so is my NARS lip pencil collection. I have quite a few now – both in NARS satin and matte formulation. The shade that I will be reviewing today is “Consuming Red.”

My Experience with NARS Consuming Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil:
NARS velvet matte lip pencil comes housed in a matte black chubby stick packaging. It is not retractable, so you have to sharpen it whenever it is required. The end of the pencil is colour coded to the shade of the lip pencil. The name of the brand and shade is printed in white around the pencil.
NARS lip pencil is one of my favourite lip pencil formula. It’s like a jumbo pencil which covers the larger area at a single swipe and takes less time to cover the entire lips unlike the regular lip pencils. The formulation of NARS lip velvet matte lip pencil is just stunning. It offers matte finish without drying out lips. It glides on very easily and feels very lightweight and comfortable on the lips.
I did not notice any bleeding or feathering, which is a major concern for some people. It makes your lips look fuller and smooth and does not settle into the fine lines of the lips, but you do need to scrub your lips before applying this pencil since it clings on to the dry patches of the lips.
The shade “Consuming Red” is a deep red color with a hint of brown in it. This will look stunning on any skin tone. Not only the formula is stunning but staying power is also great. I get full 7 to 8 hours of wear time without any drinking or eating. It does fade when you eat or drink, but it leaves a stain behind, so your lips won’t look bare even if it’s worn off a little bit.
