After lots of nail paints and lipsticks, I finally decided to venture into some eye products. This pretty eyeshadow palette from NYX Love in Paris Range is a part of that venture. This palette is called Let Them Eat Cake (fancy name). I bought this palette because I liked the range of colours it offered.

My Experience with NYX Love in Paris Let Them Eat Cake 9 Color Shadow Palette:
Packaging: The packaging is pretty cute. It is packaged in a black plastic case with a transparent glass front. The shades are easily visible through the front glass. The name of the palette- NYX Love In Paris is written in white on the front. A cute black bow design on the the side acts as the clasp.
Shades: The palette has 9 shades with a double sided sponge applicator. The applicator is of good quality.
The NYX’s website describes this palette as shimmery and matte pinks, browns, & beiges. In the top row first and third shades are matte. In the middle row, the first shade is matte. In the bottom row again , the first and third are matte. The rest are shimmery.
First shade falls in the taupe family. It is a deep brownish taupe matte eyeshadow. It can be used to create brown smokey eye look.
Second shade is a shimmery beige. It is a beautiful color. It can be used all over the lid as a base color.
Third shade is again a matte one. It is a very light pink, which almost appears white.
Fourth shade is a light shade again. It is a silvery white colour.
The fifth shade is a beautiful light coral. It is shimmery and will surely rock your look.
The sixth shade appears almost black in the palette, but comes out as a shimmery, deep blackish brown on the skin. It is the perfect colour for creating smokey eyes.
The seventh color is a matte brown shade. It appears lighter on the palette than it is on application.
The eighth shade is a shimmery pink. It appears quite bright on the palette, but on the skin it turns out light.
The ninth and the last shade is a matte mauve-ish pinky shade.
The pigmentation of this particular palette falls below average. Even the darker shades have average pigmentation. The lighter shades need multiple shades to show up. Some of the shades in this palette are gorgeous, but their poor pigmentation makes this palette an overall dud, at least for me. The fall out, for all the shades is negligible. They stay on my lid almost for 4-5 hours with primer. This means the staying is also below average.
Pros of NYX Love in Paris Let Them Eat Cake 9 Color Shadow Palette:
- Beautiful collection of pinks, browns, & beiges
- Good mix of shimmery and matte shades
- Reasonable price
- Brown shade which can be used to create brown Smokey eyes
- Bright pink and coral color to brighten up your eyes
- Cute and classy packaging
- Negligible fallout
Cons of NYX Love in Paris Let Them Eat Cake 9 Color Shadow Palette:
- The lasting power is poor around 2-3 hours. Primer necessary in order to make it last long
- Pigmentation of most of the shades is average
Would I recommend/repurchase NYX Love in Paris Let Them Eat Cake 9 Color Shadow Palette?
No and no. I had heard and read such good reviews of NYX palettes but this particular palette did not live upto any of the claims. Overall, I am disappointed with this palette. The mix of colours is gorgeous but the key qualities fall below par. I would not repurchase or recommend this.
