Hello all,
Today’s review will be a very dark, almost vampy looking lipstick from NYX. I bought two of them and both are very different, very bold and vampy shades. This one is a dark berry shade called Vixen. Let’s get to see how it fared.
Price: 4.50 $ in U.S. (550 Rs in India)
Description: It’s double or nothing with this lip liner and lipstick in one. Our Jumbo Lip Pencils infuse lips with alluring, nourishing color, and help you create a perfect pout. Line, define and color with one jumbo pencil. Plus the mineral oil formula does not dry out your lips and it goes on smoothly.

My Experience with NYX Vixen Jumbo Lip Pencil:
Packaging: NYX Jumbo lip pencils come in a pencil form that needs to be sharpened. It has a transparent cap that fits nicely. The black body and white details looks really good and different from other lipsticks that I own. The packaging is pretty handy, convenient and travel friendly.
Colour/Pigmentation: ‘Vixen’ is an obvious dark berry shade. It is such a rich shade of maroon, almost like Jordana Sugar Plum shade but kicked up 10 notches, also very similar to Coloressence Merry Magenta lipstick which is a dupe for MAC Rebel. It is something that I’d never dare to wear but I don’t know what happened and I picked up two of the boldest shades out there. For me this shade is totally out of my comfort zone as I am an orange, red, pink lipstick type of a girl. I wear such shades on a daily basis and this one was totally different from the shades that I own. The pigmentation is crazy! It is intensely pigmented and you can have a very bold pout in just two swipes.
Texture: This is the creamiest lipstick I’ve ever tried. It’s almost like applying an intensely pigmented lip balm, it’s that creamy. But one con of it being so creamy is that it feels slightly oily for some time and until it sets, it transfers like crazy. Needless to say it glides on like butter! It moisturises the lips but doesn’t hydrate them. Once it has set (which takes quite a bit of time) it settles to a satin finish. It still does transfer easily.
Staying power: It stays on for 3 hours but since it is super creamy, it fades away quickly with meals and transfers heavily on to cutlery, which takes away the pigmentation. I highly recommend blotting it with a tissue. Touch ups are required every 3 hours or so. Summing up the pros and cons,
Pros of NYX Vixen Jumbo Lip Pencil:
• Nice packaging.
• Highly pigmented.
• Deep berry colour.
• Super creamy texture.
• Glides on like a dream.
• Great for people with dry lips.
Cons of NYX Vixen Jumbo Lip Pencil:
• Transfers like crazy.
• Takes time to set.
• Low staying power.
• A little too creamy in my opinion.
• Needs to be sharpened.
IMBB Rating: 3.5/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase NYX Vixen Jumbo Lip Pencil?
Since this shade is not every one’s cup of tea, I’d suggest trying different shades from this range. I wouldn’t repurchase this though.
