Shiseido Advanced Hydro-Liquid Compact Review

Shiseido Advanced Hydro-Liquid Compact

Smoother skin, brighter radiance. A cream-in-a-compact foundation with rich, luxurious moisture glides smoothly onto skin for a lustrous and luminous complexion. Continuously provides moisture to skin and maintains a dewy and lustrous finish all day long. Spreads easily with a creamy texture for a perfectly even application.

Case sold separately.

I bought this compact last month all thanks to IMBB.I am really high on foundations and many more reviews on foundation to come soon. Now this one is from my current fav brand Shiseido as far as at least lipsticks go.This is the first skin makeup product from them I tried and some how it disappointed me in some respects. It is certainly not a bad product but it simply did not work for me. It is not my dream HG foundation.

The compact is a refill for 1700 Rs. and you need to buy an empty compact for it to be fitted into. The compact was sufficient for me to use and it also comes with a new sponge with every refill so I thought let me keep the compact purchase worth 1000 for some other time. Meanwhile let me try out how this cream foundation works for me.

To start with I think the SA gave me a darker color mainly because I was insisting I want a yellow looking foundation. This one seemed the closest yellow but it is slightly darker than my skin tone. It has no pink or white to it which is great as I hate whitish or pinkish foundations. Anyway I can surely make the color work for me. The cream reminds me totally of Bourjois B B cream which I did not like at all. It is really really similar in texture and I thought the Shiseido one will be top notch, much better than Bourjois. The texture is smooth and creamy no doubt so far so good. The packaging is travel friendly as it click locks in place.

When I applied it it looked a little dull.I had to go on and on for coverage but somehow my face looked more gray than yellow and my skin did not look bright at all.I waited for it to settle down but then it looked little ashy to my surprise.I did not think it would look more ashy than yellow on me.I think it kind of oxidised on me. I may be wrong but the color and coverage did not come out as expected on me.

The finish is somewhere between dewy and semi matte. The coverage is average.Pores will be hidden but scars will not.Coverage can be called medium. The brand describes the finish as lustrous. I do think all skin types can try this as I tried this for my combo oily skin and it worked fine and looked semi-matte on me.I was not happy with the way it photographed either. It made me look gray. I did not have a problem with coverage as in my skin looked smooth and even but not brighter , it looked gray.
The staying power is nice with some setting powder but since it is a cream one, you do need to set it.As a concealer it will not work. You will need something more. I would say this is a light coverage day wear cream foundation which will work for good skin which has lesser pores and scars. This could be something you could wear to office for a light coverage.

The texture is very smooth, it blends nicely no doubt and the sponge is nice as well.Make sure you wash it often or may be use your own too with this one if you like. The product is expensive in terms of the quantity you get. Also try not to dip dirty fingers into it, this could be a problem with the compact as well if you are fan of application and blending with fingers.I did not experience any breakout or skin irritation and it is light to wear. You will not find it cakey. It blends to a natural finish and you will find loads of shades to choose from.

I tried using it with a sponge, I ended up using a lot of product. With the brush it will be even more as the product is so creamy. In my opinion this will be best used but dotting on the face and blending lightly with fingers or sponge.Overall a light to wear cream foundation but not a miraculous one. Healthy skin types can try it out.For me, the gray tone after it settles simply did not work.

  1. It’s like the early bb creams the way it turns ashy on the skin…perhaps it’s a bit too beige also. Sounds like it’s not for me either. *blush*

  2. Hi Neha,

Where can I buy Shiseido products in Delhi? I am looking for there Sun protectant foundation stick.
