My take on Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara:
I had heard and read great reviews about Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara and asked my friend to get me the same from US. Well, it is good that she got me a trial version of the same because I didn’t like it that much. I personally feel it is overhyped. No doubt it gives noticeable length and volume to the eyes in one swipe but if you apply more the result is clumping. Also it is not waterproof, I went for rafting with this mascara on and by the time I came out of the raft, I had racoon eyes, I mean it had smudged because of water. It comes in an elongated small plastic bottle with a screw type wand. The cap closes tight hence wont leak in the bag so you can carry it easily while travelling. The packaging is simple and practical.
It is quite dark mascara and holds true to its name. The consistency of the liquid is on the thicker side. One peculiar thing that I noticed about the wand was the circular end. I feel this knobby wand though peculiar did help in the application of the mascara by reaching to the inner contours of the eyes. There is a slight chemical(ish) smell to it but nothing that will bother or linger for long. It is formulated without parabens which again is a good thing. It gave me average lengthening when I applied the first coat but with subsequent applications, my lashes began to clump.
Pros of Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara:
• It is quite a dark black mascara.
• The formula is paraben free so it quite good for a part as sensitive as eyes.
• Travel friendly packaging.
• The knobby wand and smaller bristles come in handy in applying mascara even on the lower lash line.
Cons of Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara
• It is not waterproof.
• Has a slightly chemicalish smell to it.
• The lashes begin to clump with subsequent swipes.
• Not available in India
Will I repurchase/ do I recommend Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara?
No for both. I think the drugstore brands at a much lesser price do a better job than this.
