My Experience with The Body Shop Matte Kajal:

The packaging as you can see is unique in terms of look. It is easy to grip and apply. I am not very happy about the whole product being exposed when the cap is removed as chances are high that the tip would get touched/broken while removing the cap. For clumsy people like me, extra caution has to be taken each time the cap is opened and closed. Other than that, the body is long, so it aids in easy application and the matte texture gives a better grip.

The texture of the kajal is super smooth, hence you do not have to press hard to get the simple kohl look. Though the product emphasizes on the kajal being matte, I feel it is not that matte to begin with; rather it is glossy and creamy. After a while the kohl settles to a creamy matte finish, but not completely matte.

The kohl is extremely dark, pigmented black and there is absolutely no compromise on the richness of the kajal. This is where the kajal scores highest marks and in no way you can find fault with it.

Now, coming to the tricky part of a kajal and that is the staying power. We all have complaints regarding this aspect of a kajal and trust me, when I say that the staying power of this kajal has completely bowled me over! It stayed on my waterline for more than 5 hours at a stretch without much smudging or budging.  Now, that is huge when it comes to the staying power of a kajal.

Other than the sky high price, there is nothing much to complain about, in fact, this has become my favorite over the last few days and yes, it has calmed me down, now I take a while before opening and closing the cap :P. Jokes apart, this is a good option for people who wear a simple black kajal for their everyday look. The soft texture allows the pigment to settle with a single swipe, so the bullet will last you long.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend The Body Shop Matte Kajal?
Repurchase – I don’t think I will finish this up anytime soon, so I might not repurchase, also I like to buy and try new products.

Recommend – Definitely yes, keep an eye for the product to come under sale so that it doesn’t pinch the pocket.

P.S – The Diva (read Rati) herself complimented me when I wore this one recently, so this one is special to me.

  1. Great review! I have been waiting for this review! Looks like a great kajal but I also don’t like the fact that whole bullet is exposed, and what about when I reach halfway? It’s a risky bet for me 🙁 😐

  2. there really is some innovation in terms of design! but same issues. Loved the pigmentation. and its looking oh so pretty! on you!! 🙂

  3. It is very impressive that it stays on the waterline for 5 hours.. that is too good for a kajal 🙂 love how pigmented it is 🙂
