theBalm Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush – Argyle Review

Hello ladies,

I am so excited to share with you all my views on my absolute favorite product from theBalm – The Instain Blush in the shade “Argyle.”

Product Description:

theBalm’s long-wearing, staining powder blush is a fashion must have! With six shades, perfect for all seasons and skin tones, it will give your cheeks color that won’t quit.

$22 , I got mine for $11 on 50% off.

My Experience with theBalm Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush – Argyle:

I own two of theBalm regular blushes – Hot Mama and Cabana Boy and I totally love them. They are of really high quality and are really pretty shades and now their new Instain blushes are even better and are very unique.

These are powder blushes with a staining quality ! Yes, you heard me right. They contain pure pigments that stain the cheeks upon application.

I own 3 out of the 6 shades they offer. Argyle is a soft pink shade which is described as petal pink on the website.   It is totally matte and does not contain any shimmer or sheen. I have been using this blush on a daily basis to office and love how natural and versatile it looks.

The packaging is the traditional theBalm style cardboard box with magnetic flip lock. It’s very lightweight yet sturdy. I have traveled with this blush in my makeup bag and never had an issue with the box opening up.

Also, it is the lightest among all 6 shades, but guess what, it shows up so beautifully on my NC42 skin; you can imagine how pigmented the other darker shades would be.  In the swatches, you can see that the sheered out swatch looks a bit darker than the non-sheered one, that’s the effect of staining.

If you are a darker skin beauty and have trouble with any blush showing up on your skin or if you have an issue with staying power, then Instain is the answer to your problem. They are super pigmented with awesome staying power.  Having said that, one should be careful while applying the blush as it can easily be overdone.  Because once you apply this blush, it can be taken off or sheered out that easily, you would end up looking clownish.

I use my ELF small stippling blush to apply this. No need to swirl the brush in the blush. Just a few dabs and you have enough product for one cheek. It is better to slowly build the intensity because it’s not easy to correct once it’s overdone.

I don’t apply a lot of product on a daily basis. A concealer, compact and blush on top. Being the lightest shade of the lot, this one stays for 5-6 hours on me (because I wear it so sheer). Wearing the blush on top of a primer would definitely improve the staying power.  I have been using this blush for about 2 months daily and you can see that I have hardly used up any product.  Though the $22 price tag may seem pricey, it’s worth every penny.  I am so glad I could get mine at 50% off!

Pros of theBalm Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush – Argyle:

  • Pretty natural pink shade.
  • Highly pigmented, truly a gift for dusky skinned beauties.
  • Has a great staying power.
  • This particular shade looks very natural, it’s a great everyday shade.
  • Since a little goes a long way, the product would last for a very long time.

Cons of theBalm Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush – Argyle:

  • One can easily go overboard if it’s not applied carefully, particularly if you have fair skin.

Final Verdict:

This is truly an innovative makeup product I would say :). I totally love this blush and would recommend this to anyone.
