How are you all? Today’s review is on a lip balm called Chap Ice in Original variant. This claims to be better than Chapstick and we all know how awesome chapsticks are. So looking at this claim I instantly bought it. Read on to know more about this lip balm and whether it is actually better that chapstick.
Product Description: The primary purpose of lip balm is to provide an occlusive layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure. Dry air, cold temperatures and wind all have a drying effect on skin by drawing moisture away from the body. Lips are particularly vulnerable because the skin is so thin, and thus they are often the first to present signs of dryness. Occlusive materials like waxes and petroleum jelly prevent moisture loss and maintain lip comfort while flavorants, colorants, sunscreens and various medicaments can provide additional, specific benefits. ). It comes in many flavors like cherry, strawberry, Mint, etc.
Price: $1.2 for 0.15 oz. (4.25 gm)

My Experience with Chap Ice Original Lip Balm:
The balm comes in the form of a click stick with a twist up mechanism and these stick like balms are very convenient and easy to use, also they are very hygienic in terms of storage. If you guys have used Chapstick, this balm claims to be much better than Chapstick. The balm comes in many variants and flavors like strawberry, cherry. The one I have is Original variant which is flavor free and has no SPF. The same one comes with an SPF 4 also, this one is without SPF but it contains titanium dioxide which provides sun protection.
The texture is like any other lip balm. It contains 44% petrolatum which is nothing but your petroleum jelly. It has no flavor and smell. The balm has a light pint tint to it but it imparts no color to lips and gives a nice natural sheen to lips. The packaging is boring and is all black and white and looks like those medicated balms.
It heals dry and chapped lips to an extent. It moisturizes lips really well and keeps lips hydrated for a long time. I must say that by end of the day my lips are well moisturised and nourished. So when you have really dry and chapped lips it soothes them instantly as if you have given some potion to your lips and make them look healthy. It gives a nice cooling tingling sensation to lips for couple of seconds, mainly due to the presence of camphor. It does not claim to provide 12 hour moisturisation but it definitely keeps your lips moisturised for good 4-5 hours and after that re-application is needed.
Pros of Chap Ice Original Lip Balm:
- Nice stick form packing
- No weird taste
- Moisturizes and hydrates lips instantly
- Soothes chapped lips effectively
- Keeps lips nourished for 4-5 hours
- Gives nice cooling sensation to lips
- It glides smoothly on lips
Cons of Chap Ice Original Lip Balm:
- Biggest con: NO SPF!
- No smell
- Does not impart any color
- Contains so many chemicals: parabens, wax.
IMBB Rating: 4/5.
Overall it is a nice daily wear lip balm. Would recommend to use it during night as it has no SPF and would be not be suitable for daytime usage.
