I recently bought some ‘Essence’ products for the first time, and I am really enjoying my purchases. This one is the first product I bought from Essence, but wasn’t able to review it till now. I have also bought one more shade of this quad which I will be reviewing in the near future. Let’s continue with the review.
Price: INR 349 for 5 gms.
Packaging: The packaging looks girly and different, the overlapping circles and the semi circles in which the eyeshadows are placed looks quite attractive. The whole body of the eye shadow is made of transparent fiber material and the large fonts on the cap really add to the chic packaging. It shuts tightly with a click. There is no extra applicator provided with it and I use my Vega eyeshadow brushes to apply it. All over the packaging is pretty and sturdy.
My Take on Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in Chic-ify:
Shade: I have numbered the shades for the reader’s ease. So the first shade in the quad is a matte peach shade, which is actually a base shade, not of much use, other than creating an even skin tone. Works as a mattifying powder or base for the other colors.
Second is a semi matte grayish black shade. It has some fine shimmers and satiny touch to it. Third is again a semi matte brownish taupe color, perfect for a neutral eye look. Fourth one is a satiny silver color; it’s purely a silver color, not like packed shimmers kind. It is perfect to be used in the inner corners of the eyes to brighten them up, but can’t be used on the brow bone as a highlighter, as it is very pigmented. All the shades are suitable for every skin tone and perfect to create a smoky eyes look.
Texture and Finish: The matte peach shade is a powdery matte one and the texture is quite soft and smooth. It is not too chalky nor is it super creamy, but smooth enough to be blended easily. There is no excess fallout during application.
All the shadows apply smoothly with an eyeshadow brush or even with fingers, as they are easily blend-able. The other 2 shades are semi matte ones, they have a pearly finish to them and the texture is also very satiny and smooth. Three of them give matte finish on eyes, while the silver being a metallic color has a sheen or luster to it. Overall, texture wise, the shadows are a winner for me.
Pigmentation: All the shades in the quad are sufficiently pigmented, except for the peach one, which being an extremely neutral color, doesn’t show up well. Even though the color pay-off is good in one swipe, it camouflages with Indian skin tones.
Staying Power: I was not very impressed with the staying power of these shadows. The colors, except the base one, lasted on me for 3 -3.5 hrs, without any primer base. I am sure that it would last longer with a good primer underneath.
Pros of Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in Chic-ify:

Cons of Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in Chic-ify:
Will I Recommend Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in Chic-ify?
The colors in the quad are very common, you can find these colors in almost every palette. Hence, I would recommend this Eye shadow quad to all those who are new to the world of Eye makeup. This is a good palette to start off with and an apt one for creating a Smokey yet neutral eye look. And best part is that it won’t hurt your pocket.
