Uriage Bariéderm Levres Repair and Insulation Lip Balm Review

Being a lipstick lover, I have to take special care of my lips, in order to flaunt my lipsticks. A month back I suffered from crazy dryness of the lips (particularly the upper lip border). I tried umpteen number of things to make them soft but eveything failed. That is the time I tried this Uriage lip balm. Uriage being one of my favourite skincare brands made me develop a secret belief within me that this would work. So read on further to know if this lip balm worked or not.

Price: Rs.750 for 15ml.

Claims:
-The first barrier lip balm formulated with Poly-2p, an innovative patented complex, which offers a triple action. A high tolerance and long-lasting formula that is suitable for both professional and personal use.
-Insulates the skin’s surface. The combination of two polymers provides an insulating action on the skin’s surface to prevent future aggressions.
-Deeply regenerates
-The combination of two polymers repairs chapped and damaged lips.
-Soothes
-Phytosterols immediately soothe dry chapped lips, restoring greater comfort.

My experience with Uriage Bariéderm Levres Repair and Insulation Lip Balm:

Uriage balm comes in an outer white cardboard box with all the details pertaining to the product mentioned on it in various languages. The outer carton box opens to reveal the lip balm tube that comes in an opaque white squeeze tube packaging. The cap screws down securely making sure no product gets squeezed out if you just throw it around in your bag. It has an angulated, sanitary dispenser making sure only a little product comes out on squeezing the tube.

This is a really nice, basic, soothing lip balm. The balm feels very comforting on the lips and provides a lovely protective barrier. I prefer the feel of petroleum based lip balms to beeswax, as I just find it smoother and less greasy. Now enough dithering, onto the performance, which I think is the most important aspect of a lip balm and Bariederm’s strongest feature. Squalane is very high up on the ingredients list, while the base seems to be mineral oil: now there are plenty of products with that kind of composition, but this seems to perform differently to any other lip balm I have seen- it’s soft like Vaseline, but nowhere nearly as sticky, and isn’t slippery with silicones either. It stays soft in AC environment, but doesn’t melt when it gets hot. It layers very well under lipsticks, making even the toughest mattes glide on with ease. The texture is hard to explain, but what it does is, coats your lips and cushions them. Then, as time goes by, it soaks in, and seems to heal your lips from deep within.

I’ve found that a lot of lipbalms leave behind a hard waxy residue that in itself tugs on and causes friction on the lips just as a matte lipstick would. Bariederm has none of that. Once Bariederm is fully absorbed, tough cracked lips start to peel, and what’s left behind is perfectly smooth, well-conditioned lips. It is hypo-allergenic and has no fragrance. This surely is becoming my HG lip balm.I would like to mention this-Don’t expect overnight smooth and supple lips after using this lip balm in case you have super dry lips. Be patient enough to let the product work from within.

Cons of Uriage Bariéderm Levres Repair and Insulation Lip Balm:

-Not easily available.
-Expensive.
This is a product that has no flaws as far as I can tell, and which delivers on the most crucial aspect of chapped lips!!!. I will buy this forever, barring any change in formulation.

Overall, This is the lip balm that does its job. I may pick up trendier lip balms that come in prettier packages, but I will always come back to this lip balm when my lips genuinely need healing.
