Mayonnaise For Lice Treatment
Method 1:
Apply the mayonnaise on the hair, coating very well and focussing on the scalp area, the neck area and behind the ears. For adults, you can cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap. Leave it on overnight. You can wash it off in the morning and comb out any dead eggs with a fine comb. You can repeat this once a week or every ten days.
Method 2:
Mix the mayonnaise and 10 drops of tea tree oil in a bowl, now add a dash of vinegar to this mixture. Mix well and apply the mixture to the hair, from the scalp to the ends. Leave it as it is for about 2 hours. Shampoo your hair thoroughly. While your hair is still wet, comb out the dead lice from your hair. Repeat twice a week.

Mayonnaise acts as a suffocant. It can suffocate head lice and create an environment which is unfavourable to their survival. It deprives the lice and incubating eggs on hair, thereby eliminating them.
Some Do’s and Don’ts
1. Low-fat mayonnaise will not have enough oil to kill adult lice. Always use full-fat mayonnaise in the remedy.
2. The overnight treatment must not be used on a very young child. Mayonnaise turns rancid after a few hours. Which means it is definitely not safe to be ingested.
3. Ensure you use a very tight-fitting shower cap. Never use a plastic wrap or a plastic bag.
4. Post the treatment, remember to comb deeply into the strands as close to the scalp as possible to get rid of every nit.
