Vichy sunscreen spf 50

My Experience:

I like this sunscreen but I am not a huge fan of it. It is a semi runny cream with SPF 50 +.

I like it because:

  • It protects me from getting tanned and most importantly, it protects me from getting sun burns. My skin tends to burn within 5 minutes under the sun and this does such an awesome job at protecting with my skin.
  • It does not have any offensive smell.
  • I like the tube packaging. It is easy to carry around. Also, the cap is tight so there is little room for spillage.
  • You don’t need a whole lot of it for one usage.
  • Doe snot contain parabens.
What I don’t like:
  • It makes my face look oil slick when I put it on. I have to touch up my face with powder definitely. I can’t slather it on and rush out of the door.  I so wish it was matte or semi matte.
  • It leaves a whitish cast behind when you apply it, but it disappears after a minute or two. So if I am doing full makeup, I apply this, do my eyes and then come to my face makeup. By that time, the whitish cast is settled.
  • Since the consistency is a slightly runny, the cream tends to clog around the edges of the cap so you have to wipe it clean every few days.
Overall, I would definitely repurchase this cream because my skin gets very sensitive in the sun and this sunscreen is great at protecting my skin. But it would be quite a horror to use it during humid days. So probably I’d pick up something else during monsoons. I would definitely not recommend this to those with oily skin.

  1. Not for me… Yesterday only I was looking for it at health and glow but was double minded…today the review came.. 🙂 Happy that did not purchase it!!

  2. If you feel Oily then its definitely not for ppl with oily skin :(.. i liked that pearl bangle, is it bangle or bracelet 🙂

  3. Oh! I am disappointed with the creamy texture. But I might consider it to try after monsoons…
Thanks Rati for the review. I was waiting for it. 🙂
Currently I am happy with Lotus SPF50 spray. Lotus matte SPF40 used to break me out but I didnt realise that it was the culprit untill I tried the SPF50 one.

  4. Vichy products are generally very good. I just recently switched to the toner and eye makeup remover. I’m loving the way it helps my skin! ( I have super sensitive skin )

  5. i also bought this sunscreen recently & it made my face look so oily…may be a good sunscreen in winters:( but i expected alot from sunscreen..

  6. I was planning to get this sunscreen after finishing my lotus spf 40. thought it would suit my sensitive skin.. guess i’ll have to stick to my lotus sunscreen only..

  7. not for oily skin:-( why oh why do I have such oily skin??? but i can use this during witers, maybe!
and I didn’t quite get the ‘avoid contact with textiles’ thingie…

  8. I bought this last year .. no parabens and sensitive skin caught my eye while shopping.. but i was very disappointed coz of the heavy texture ( i have oily skin) of the sunscreen. It makes my face look extremely greasy…

    1. yeah i have dry skin still it makes my skin look greasy but with sun so bright these days, I am glad it protects my skin atleast. 🙂

  9. Oh I had thought it would work well for me :(, but tis not for oily skin and cant think of buying it in Monsoons!

  10. Hey Rati Great Review… I have this one and I agree with u on the part that it makes u look like a oil slick and it gives a whitish cast. But it gives awesome sun protection. I have used this in Goa and I didnt tan one bit..

    1. i agree richa. It gives awesome sun protection and that is the only reason i’d repurchase it. With a bit of compact i can control the shine. 🙂

  11. Rati, u have dry skin n this makes ur skin oily.. I can imagine how it would be on me 😐
Vichy has a sunscreen for oily combination skin, micro fluid or something. Thats really good, I’ve used a sample.
I also had another question: I use the Clinique Anti-blemish 3 step n then follow up with sunscreen. But when I use La roche Posey one, the moisturizer kinda balls up!! 🙁 Any idea on what I can do? Should the sunscreen be used alone?

    1. ramya, are you sure that the moisturizer does not ball up when you dont apply the sunscreen. Your remem my loccitane face cream review? that short of balls up whenever i apply something on top of it. The best thing is to pat the sunscreen than actually rubbing it in your skin.

  12. Sounds pretty good Rati..even my skin is super sensitive to sun and gets tanned within few minutes of exposure..but I’ve got my HG in Lotus Herbals Safe sun..awesomeeeeee stufff…. 😀 😀 😀

  13. I like this sunscreen and it suits my skin…but as u said it does leave a whitish cast..wish that had a tinted one like Avene has..

  14. hey rati,
there is a dry touch sunscreen in vichy now.it does not leave white streaks, its the same packaging
but its dry touch type.hope this helps your quest for good sunscreen!

  15. HI Rati, how are you doing? I used the Lakme sunscreen for oily skin recently, it quite suited me. 🙂 🙂

  16. ive never used anything from Vichy , will try something.
I got a new product from Aveeno and its very light. but I guess all sunscreens leave a whitish cast when applied 🙁

  17. Hey Rati, nice review! This product is in my practice reserved for more mature and dry skin. Younger patients end up having a similar experience as you did.
