Hey friends!
How are you all? It took me really long to write my first review for 2015…you know how your holidays get extended when you visit a beautiful place, having left the place physically but not mentally! So now as my picture-scrolling, talking-endlessly-about-the-same-place phase is over :P, I am ready to write a review about my latest discovery, the Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Dry Hair and I can’t stop raving about this. You’ll know why.

My Experience with Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Dry Hair:
I develop severely dry scalp in winters. Dandruff flakes showing upon shoulders become a problem and I have to switch to an anti-dandruff shampoo. Most of the anti-dandruff shampoos I have used so far don’t suit. Believe me, I have tried almost all (without SLS/SLES ones too)! They make my dry scalp drier, leading to itchiness, a tighter scalp, if that’s the right term to use, and I start facing many other scalp issues, apart from the dandruff that hasn’t budged! Also, my really long dry hair become straw like after using those strong anti-dandruff shampoos.
I would like to mention here that the only shampoo that that I found good for both my hair and scalp was the Clear shampoo (pink one). I believe it is the best budget anti-dandruff shampoo. But even after a month-long search (both online and offline) and emptying out several of sachets, I couldn’t find a bottle. So I finally decided to give Vichy a try. This is the first time I’ve spent so much on a shampoo and was really worried about its results. But all my worries were laid to rest right from the first hairwash!
The shampoo comes in a bottle with a flip top and is bright orange in color. It foams up easily, so a little quantity is required for each use. It doesn’t leave my hair too dry after the rinse, full points for that, though I do need a conditioner/mask for my really dry hair. I really like the fact that this shampoo comes in two versions (for dry and oily hair). Now coming to its dandruff-removing claims, it really does work in that area. I shampoo my hair twice a week and in total I have used this 5 times. Right now, there are no visible flakes, my scalp appears quite clear, there is no itchiness, and no tightness (thank God!). So, I am really happy with the choice I made.
I can’t say about the effects once I stop using this. The instructions say that it should be used twice a week for a 4-week treatment program and then once in every 15 days. The price is on a higher side for a shampoo, so I’ll have to think before buying it again, but I will definitely keep it as a fail-safe. Again if you have tried everything for curing dandruff and nothing seems to work, try this once.
What I loved about Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Dry Hair :
- Works on dandruff from the first use; in 3 washes, dandruff is completely gone.
- Paraben free.
- Little is required so the 200-ml bottle will last long.
- Minty fragrance.
- Available in two versions (dry and oily hair).
What I didn’t love much about Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Dry Hair :
- The price pinches!
- I wish a smaller size was available; if it does not work for some, the money will go down the drain; also a travel size is always handy.
- I am not too sure about the availability (a friend says that it’s available at leading pharmacy stores).
IMBB Rating: 4/5
Would I repurchase Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for Dry Hair?
Yes! I think it’s something you can trust in those crunch times. And also, I have to check whether that once-in-15-days use works or not. If yes, I am going to use this for the rest of my life! 😛

Yes Arpita, for now it is the only one that seems to work for me 🙂
That really sounds good…I had bad dandruff during my teenage years but its a good one for my mom as she has seasonal dandruff in winters 😀
It is good for dry itchy scalp Parmita 🙂
umm had no idea Vichy makes haircare products as well. This sounds perfect!
I need to try this one. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I’ve tried this shampoo… It’s AWESOME!!! Problem is once you think your dandruff is gone and you can stop using the shampoo (obviously for budget reasons :P) *puff* the dandruff comes back within 2 months. So I think it is better to continue with it.. atleast by the once-in-15-days routine.
I use Vichy Dercos for greasy hair for about 12 years, and I LOVE it! I tried many others, but non of them helped. Although it is pricy, I stick to it, as it seems to be the only one that works for me. (I guess selenium is the secret.) And yes, it is available at pharmacies. 🙂
It’s enough to use it once a week to keep my scalp clean, so I can use shampoos for other purposes as well. My hair gets greasier faster after using Dercos than other shampoos (eg. Gliss Kur or Guhl). When I start not to use it, my scalp starts to create bigger and bigger flakes, after some 3 weeks some can be even 1 cm diameter. Using Dercos my scalp looks totally normal! <3 🙂
