My Experience with Yves Rocher Top Coat for Eye Makeup Fixing Pearly Effect:

The top coat comes sealed, the packaging is sleek and transparent with a black screw cap. There are 3 different shades available – gold, silver and clear. The shade can be seen through the transparent case. The screw cap closes tight and thus makes the product travel friendly. The screw cap houses the applicator. The applicator is easy to hold and makes application easy. The brush length is perfect and you can cover the entire eyelid with 2 to 3 swipes. The brush is not very soft but it doesn’t cause any irritation.

The top coat is a liquid which houses the gold shimmery particles. It applies evenly but it is recommended to shake the medium so that the gold shimmer particles gets evenly distributed, but if you want less shimmer, you can just use it without shaking. The smell is awful and very strong. I wish it had a nice fragrance to it.

The top coat can be used to fix powdery eye makeup or to add a metallic effect. You can intensify the eye makeup by adding layers. The coat dries within 5-10 seconds, but till then, you need to be a little careful. The coat can be used over anything to seal that product in place. The shimmery particles can be a little messy in the beginning and doesn’t apply evenly, and you need a little practice on how to even it out or else, the product settles as chunks over the eyelid.

The biggest advantage of the product is that it doesn’t have any fallout. The effect is metallic and is a bit glossy. The sheen is great when you need to oomph up an eye makeup. The top coat is great when you are fixing powder eye makeup. I love the top coat for keeping my eyeliner in place. When I use creamy eyeliners or eyeshadows to create a line, the product smudges and gives me raccoon eyes, but with this top coat, I can seal the product in place.

The top coat is great to prevent any smudge, fallouts or fading. The top coat lengthens the stay of the product. Normal creamy eyeliner that would stay hardly for 2-3 hours stayed for almost 6 hours and eyeshadows stayed in place the whole day without any fading with this top coat.

It didn’t irritate my eyes. The gel that is present in the top coat doesn’t dry out the eyelids or cause any dryness, but I am sure there are no moisturizing properties with this top coat. I was unable to find the ingredients on their website and I hope like the other products from Yves Rocher, this too is made from natural ingredients and doesn’t contain paraben but I am not sure. The top coat is great and I love it. I would love to buy the clear top coat too as that would retain the makeup without adding any effect.
