I have purchased a couple of Estee Lauder products as the brand was offering smart sale discounts a while back. My Experience with Estee Lauder Red Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil:

The lip liner comes in a sleek sharpenable plastic pencil packaging, with an additional lip brush at other end, securely locked with a cap. I like its user-friendly and travel-friendly packaging. My shade “Red” appears to be a bright blue toned strawberry red shade. It is perfect for fair, light and medium skin tones with pink and neutral undertones. It appears equally gorgeous on my pale- yellow undertone as well. I love how it pairs well with all blue and neutral toned red and even pink lip colors in my stash.

Talking about its texture, it certainly appears matte and a bit dry on my lips, but nothing to be concerned about honestly. I mean, unlike Sephora Gel Lip Liners, it has a non-creamy, slight powdery and matte finish which does not look patchy or flaky on my normal-dry lips even though it is not a very hydrating product. Considering I have normal-dry lips, I didn’t find it overly drying or uncomfortable on my lips as it effortlessly sits on my lips for hours. It imparts a nearly full color pay off in 1-2 swipes while forgiving minor dryness and pigmentation really well.

I feel that if we use the liner on well scrubbed and smooth lips, it will impart a smooth, flawless finish. In fact I did not feel like using a lip balm throughout the wear time and it stayed comfortably on my lips for good 8+ hours with no dryness and/or emphasizing lip lines or even dry patches on my lips. Impressive, huh! Yes gals, it certainly helps with bleeding and feathering issues with its matte finish which is almost waterproof and smudge proof. It is good enough to be worn alone with a dab of a clear gloss too.

Needless to say, this is what I was expecting from an ideal lip liner – to be completely water-proof, smudge-proof, intensely pigmented, partly or non-creamy, light-weight, non-cakey, and long lasting. Not to forget, its dual ended brush design comes handy for travelling purpose though I am not very impressed with that mini brush. Still, it works well for quick touch-ups. I would definitely like to get it again and would highly recommend this to everyone. However, beauties with dry and parched lips might need a hydrating primer or a lip balm considering the dry and matte finish of this pencil.
