My Experience with Faces Ultime Matte Lip Crayon – Wrapped Up 09:

‘Wrapped Up’ would be a lovable shade for the beauties who love corals, nudes or basically any soft neutral shade.

crayon packaging

Packaging: These lip crayons are thoughtfully packed in a way that they are not huge jumbo-sized lip crayons that are difficult to pocket but neither are they too sleek and fragile which might trigger a flash of fear. You do not have to worry about this crayon’s sturdy pencil tube and tip that is intact with the cap on. It is easy and safe to carry. Like I mentioned earlier in my other two reviews, the product wastage definitely makes me sad more so the colors are tuned in a way that I wish each time that they were twist type. Otherwise I am happy faced when using this classy, sturdy color-coded crayon along with free sharpener that says ‘Faces’. You can wear it on the go or carry it around as per your convenience.

crayon bullet

Color: ‘Wrapped Up’ is a shade that is light-dependent by which I mean sometimes it can be like it has a bit of coral in it and otherwise it looks like a plain sultry neutral shade of brown. Overall, it is great for the ones who love a soft wash of matte. It personally scored with me as it is a color that can be used as a great base either as a layer to pair up with a coral/neutral lipstick or gloss. It is good even when worn alone. Such flexible shades impress me. Minimal makeup or dewy look would beautify this shade.

hand swatches

Coverage: These lip crayons provide a mediocre semi-opaque coverage and call for extra effort to obtain neat finish either as multiple swipes or in the form of a lip liner. In my opinion, a flattering neutral matte like this requires full justice and therefore I would recommend you to take the help of a liner to obtain fuller looking lips. Do not expect it to cover your pigmented portion even with two to three coats.

Texture and finish: The lip crayon has a texture that feels very light on the lips, the flipside being that it eventually dries out your lips causing flakiness. For the texture it possesses, I would recommend you to keep this away for harsh winters or wear with extra care and that would mean extra effort before and after application. The overall finish is uneven and this crayon and color definitely calls for a lip balm underneath for a decent finish.

Pigmentation and staying power: This lip crayon is not too light or too heavily pigmented but definitely a little less intense. This kind of pigmentation also impacts the staying power thereby use of a lip liner along with touch ups can help the color last longer and to also entirely cover pigmented portion. ‘Wrapped Up’ being a mild orange-brown shade makes lip lines and flakiness obvious when it fades. Sipping water does no harm; else a snack and stomach-filling meal can wipe it away leaving bits of the product. As this lip color is easy to remove, time constraints should not be much of a problem.

If you are a beginner who likes neutrals with a hint of vibrant color, then I would say, pick this one. I personally feel for someone with bow-shaped lips like mine, it is definitely a great everyday comfortable lip shade that gives a lovely colorful dewy look for the day. Price point can be an issue with these lip crayons because if I must be honest there is nothing extraordinary about them.

  1. Midnight rose sure is a beautiful color and like you are right about the fading part. These crayons overall disappoint me in terms of finish and the uneven fading :/
