Makeup/ Fashion Lessons from Bollywood Actresses

Use, Don’t Abuse

Bollywood actresses have always inspired generations of people in our country and beyond. Whether it is through their beauty, hairstyle, personality, fashion sense, charm, or just their presence, actresses have had a way to allure their audiences.

But how much is too much ? If we look at today’s generation of actresses, some have gone out of their way to obtain engrossment. While the list would be highly objective and endless, let’s look at five actresses that are in the public eye today.

Aishwarya Rai Bacchan

If you have ever seen an interview with Ash, there’s a 100 % chance that she has giggled and\or laughed at least once every 4 minutes. A smile is every girl’s prerogative, so is giggling and laughing. But when over used it completely loses its meaning. There have been many complains about her irritating and annoying giggle from both celebrities (off record, of course) and the public. Julia Roberts calls her the most beautiful woman in the world, I agree but that is definitely when her mouth is closed. Ash – you are a beautiful and intelligent woman, and we love that you find every thing so ‘hilarious’, your smile and your laugh is pretty, but please don’t abuse it.

Kareena Kapoor

kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor is not what we would call a conventional beauty, but her charisma ( 😉 ) is unavoidable. Born into the first family of Bollywood, she has some gigantic shoes to fill. Her genes have ensured her good looks, but all other exterior aspects are preferences. Being at top, there’s always pressure to look your best, but when it comes to the blusher, girl, you over do it. Unconventional face structure was a chance, but abuse of ‘blusher’ was your choice.

Mallika Sherawat

Right from her movie, Mallika Sherawat’s assets have been, well, her ‘assets’. While it was fresh, raw and new for a while, hundreds of wannabes later, it’s become obsolete. And let’s admit it, its kinda embarrassing, didn’t you feel the least bit ashamed when she stood besides the legend Jackie Chan in an outfit for which ‘skimpy’ is an understatement. While there’s no denial that you have a great body, seeing Mallika parading her bosoms at nearly every event has left nothing more to be deciphered.

Tabu

Tabu
Tabu

Tabu isn’t someone who can be called from today’s generation, but she still has her career going not too poorly. Tabu has always been a critics dream, an art heroine. But whether it was pressure or desire, she has acted in nonsensical commercial movies. Tabu has tried to bring in something new in every character she portrayed, but one thing that never changed in her real life was her hair. Honestly , have you ever seen Tabu at any event without her open, poker straight, long, natural\ walnut brown hair proudly displayed? Very rarely has that ever happened. Being a full time actress is about versatility, its about losing yourself in different characters, and how can you achieve that without completely immersing yourself in your characters?

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana
Kangana

Kanagana is refreshingly youthful and not afraid to flaunt that trait. They say she is every director’s dream because she is wild and highly experimental. Claiming to be a small town girl, she has made a secure space for herself in Bollywood. Her raw personality is charming. What ain’t, is her fashion sense. Now now, she has dazzled the media and the fraternity alike with her fashion sense, but that is when she is USING her fashion sense. When she goes overboard, she ABUSES her sense.

To all women out there , be girly, be beautiful, be fashionable, be hot, be charming, be pretty, be feminine, be soft, be delicate. Use all traits that make a woman. Use , don’t abuse.

  1. Smitaaaaaa stupendo fantabulously fantastical article :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*      Njoyeeeedddddd to the T 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  2. I think Aishwarya’s hair have also been the same throughout. hai na..

    and what’s with kareena’s makeup in second pic 😯 😯 😯 😯

I saw that dark lipstick wali kangana’s photos. So OTT

    1. Yeahhh G3 like Blush-overdose. Actually in recent times, Kareena has been wearing too much of it just about everywhere!!! Her blush is what inspired this article 😛

  3. Lol Smita interesting post – Ash’s giggle unfortunately is just a part of her we all have to deal with – im guessing its proof no one is perfect 😛 Bang on about Kareena’s blush … but
“Being a full time actress is about versatility, its about losing yourself in different characters, and how can you achieve that without completely immersing yourself in your characters?”
Sorry darling this one is complete rot – being an actress is a job just like any other – you wouldnt demand an engineer programme at the dinner table – when she is not on set Tabu has no reason to immerse herself in any charachter, its all the more reason to take that space to be her self – poker straight hair et al ….

    But this is a pretty neato article –    😛 😛 😛 😛 :-* :-* :-* :-*

      1. Devie completely agree with you regarding sonam’ s laugh. Annoying is an understatement! Oh well I hate her attitude anyway . I saw a program where she made fun of “south Indian” accent…. That did it for me !

        1. What? And she thinks her Delhi wannabe way of talking is something?
I don’t get it it with Indian actresses and accents, why are they so obsessed!

          1. She was really sweet before though…also I don’t get it if she really went to United World College she should be smarter…but she comes across as a ditz. I think she’s pretending!

            1. …to be a ditz…ie

As for the accent thing, I read in India accents are a class thing. That the upper class is supposed to have a cleaner English accent. Well, I was in India and the upper class has neither a clean English nor Hindi (I’m north Indian) accent! Shame

              1. Yeah she’s just plain ignorant.. You cannot be a top bollywod star and make such condescending statements ! And for the record she’s gotta a terrible accent in the first Place, don’t know how to describe it ! But I am glad that am not the only one that feels his way bout sonam !

                1. Devie – UWC India is for dopeheads 😛 😛 😛 I know it tough to get in but on the other hand – family name counts for something na – like Indira Gandhi was a crappy student – but got in to Oxford coz of Daddy’s name but never actually managed to graduate from there …

    1. Hey Janhavi,
I actually do believe that, because for me ,thats whats acting. Tabu might do that or not, i don’t know. But i think all actors should. But what the heck do I know, i’ve never been an actor.

  4. This made my morning! Couldn’t be truer!

I personally find nothing aspirational about (current) Bollywood – not in terms of beauty, fashion, lifestyle, intellect (haha)…nothing!

But I do lurv Kangana’s acting!

  5. I liked Ash in the new season of Kofee with Karan – it was probably her least annoying tv appearance of late – the official worst one would be her first Oprah interview :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain:

      1. Letterman was #()$#@()$, but , i do think she gave some smart-ass remarks that David deserved, i mean he was actually making fun of her and i think her answers were very appropriate, her giggles – not so much.

  6. Super- cool post!! But more irritating than ash’s laugh is her orange hair!! Orange!! :dazed: :dazed: :dazed: :dazed: Can’t Loreal people give her better hair color???
And this is prob the first time Celina doesn’t make an appearance in bad-bollywood-makeup post 😉 😉

  7. i had soem nice time reading this Smita :-)) :-))
    why people over do it,
someone pls tell ash, she ain’t teen anymore to giggle now and then 😛

  8. I loved reading this piece Smitha……..           …….you are so true about Mallika….her assets are like in-your-face kinds 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮

  9. 😀 😀 😀 😀 ………….you have all taught us how to give gaalis………………….##@#(^@(^#@^(@#)$()$$&(@#()$)$@

  10. I mean Janhavi Gaali ji….you have taught us all how to give a proper gaali……I had seen a gaali of yours in the other post and i was like 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

  11. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I have my own IMBB nick name

now you better be nice to me or I will start using all gaalis on u like that Veena from Big Boss :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry: :reallyangry:

  12. Gaali Devi…..you better take tuitions for us….me only know till daayan and chudail……I don;’t even know the full form of MC/BC…. O:-) O:-) O:-) O:-) O:-)

  13. Jomoji your pants on fire – you know datteee gaalis like kulachini – even I had not heard till date – shame shame puppy shame 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

and dontchoooo try to trick me into giving more gaalis on IMBB – I will give gaali when least expected and most needed like a christmas gift 😛 😛 😛 you have to wait for it 😛 😛 😛

  14. hawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww….Kulachinni is not a gaali…..like Poutmati said…..kulachinni means…..total sugar…………kulta means…Kokonut urban lease token organization….I am innocent 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥

  15. *beeep* you failed jomoji – open sugar is khula cheeni dont try to make :rose: out of me with semantic nonsense – I know kulachini is dirty dirty word :footmouth: :footmouth: :footmouth:

Kulta :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Next time no I will call someone Kulta instead of kutta :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: so sad no – that there is no word like kulti – then could mix and match with kutti 😉 😉 😉

  16. I will give you an option…either “Beepo Rani” or “Gaali Devi” your choice…..kutli…..sounds good na…..we can patent this one….and use on Rads…..

  17. Hmmmmm choices choices – you choose – I hate making decisions :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: it literally hurts ….

and we totally have to use kulti on Ammachi Radi – but I will tell you :shutmouth: kulti without the K is also datteee word :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  18. the problem with kareena is that she is quite pale, which is accented on screen. i can only imagine how she must look in real life with all the blush all over her face!

  19. i soo enjoyed reading this article!! was so interestng and refreshing

btw u forgot how kanganna does ott on her foundation offscreen!!!
she looks ghastly white!! and it looks like a mask someone could peel off! she watns to looks super fair or wat god knows! but i like her natural complexion bettr
    and yea she acts well..

ash was soo annoying on koffee wit karan! maybe she giggled less but she tried to give answers she thought were too smart!! but to me, she blondified herself even more!!

btw i read kareenas interview somewhere and she said she hated being so fair… she envied bronze or darker skintone and henece speds hours bornzing herslf… sad 😛 so i give her a chance here…
and im kinda with her, coz i have that unconventional face shape too 🙁

    1. Yah kangana’s foundation is weird too. I noticed the same, dunno whether its the wrong shade of make up, or just overdose of it, but it looks plain weird.
Really??? Kareena hates her skintone?? But its soo gorgeous !! Why is the grass always greener on the other side!!!!!

  20. Interesting post Smita. The most irritating Indian actresses are Kareena and Sonam Kapoor.I just cudn’t believe how immature Kareena was in her first cofee wid Karan episode wid Rani wen John said he found Rani sexier 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 Wid these 2 around i’m glad we have dialogue writers(tho they are only marginally better — “Bhagwan ke liye mujhe chod do”   :X-P: :X-P: :X-P: )

    1. Thanks Sharon, i agree kareena was very immature before, but i think she still acts a li’l too childish at times.
Beeeeeeeeeeee – FAKE ACCENTS !! SO freakin annoying !! I mean COME ON!!!!!!
