Today’s review is about NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Shimmer Green. I was not a fan of eye makeup until I came to IMBB. And now I am addicted to eye makeup. I religiously use colorful eye pencils and I love how they add new look and color to the whole face with just a bit of effort. In my hunt for colorful eye pencils, I stumbled upon this beautiful piece from NYX, but I am a bit disappointed.

My Take on NYX Green Shimmer Eye/Eyebrow Pencil:
I like the shade this eye pencil gives to your eyes, shimmery green, but that’s about it. The other good thing is maybe that it is slim and that’s all about it.
The color pay off is very bad. It is lightly pigmented and when you apply it on the eyes, you only see more of shimmer and less of the green color. Also, the green shade is leafy green and not dark green so that maybe one reason for the extremely light green color the pencil gives.
I had read somewhere that if you slightly burn the tip of an eye pencil, it becomes intense. So, I tried that as well. Sadly, it worked only for one time. Maybe the fire accumulates color near the tip and when you apply it, the tip or the lead comes to its normal shade.
Also, it smudges badly. A lot if you compare it with Faces/Colorbar eye pencils. Finally, talking about the staying power, it stays for 2 to 3 hours, so that is another con.
Overall, this is a pretty much average eye pencil that does not give much in terms of quality except a nice shade if you want light green color on eyes. Light green color is not easily available in eye pencils so this is something that can make people buy it.
Pros of NYX Green Shimmer Eye/Eyebrow Pencil:
- Nice light green color.
- Packaging or the brand.
Cons of NYX Green Shimmer Eye/Eyebrow Pencil:
- Color payoff is fairly poor.
- Very lightly pigmented.
- Nothing special about it except the shimmer.
- Staying power is again very poor, hardly stays on for more than 3 hours.
- Smudges a lot!
Overall Recommendation:
I would recommend it only for the color and the shimmer or maybe the brand if you are fond of NYX, I am not. Nor I like light green shade that much so this one is a pass for me. For almost this price, there are better eye pencils in the market.
