1. Benzoyl Peroxide:
Benzoyl peroxide is an effective ingredient which works well on acne and helps to soothe them easily. Benzoyl peroxide helps to kill the bacteria from the face and also get rid of excess oil. However, you should also look for the quantity of Benzoyl peroxide used in the cream. It should be 2.5% to 10% and not more than that. As Benzoyl peroxide may make you the sun sensitive, use sunscreen.
2. Tea Tree Oil:
Most of the face creams for acne prone skin should contain tea tree oil in it. Tea tree oil is as effective as benzoyl peroxide and helps to soothe the acne and pimples on the skin. However, if you have sensitive skin you should avoid using creams with a base of tea tree oil in it.
AHAs is also known as Alpha-hydroxy acids. It is used in all the skin care products for acne prone skin. They are used to get rid of the dead cells on the skin and hence, it’s no surprise to find them in acne preventing creams. However, overuse of AHAs or Alpha-hydroxy acid can make your skin sensitive. However, if you cream contains Alpha-hydroxy acids, you should be using a sunscreen in order to prevent it from harmful UV rays of the sun.
4. Salicylic Acid:
Salicylic acid works as an excellent exfoliator by cleaning the pores and blocking the pores again. Due to salicylic acid present in creams, it prevents breakouts and appearance of acne on the face. The recommended dose of salicylic acid in a cream should not be more than 2 percent.
Retinoids are the most important ingredient in a cream which helps to remove dead skin cells from the face. Again, don’t forget to use a sunscreen while using products with Retinoids in it. They’re available on prescription and can be a good option if over-the-counter products haven’t been effective.
6. Azelaic Acid:
Azelaic acid is an exfoliator as well as bacteria killer which reduces the chance of bacteria in the face. Due to cell buildup and bacteria present on the skin, Azelaic acid can prevent blocking of pores. You should always look for Azelaic acid in the cream as it not only helps to soothe your skin but, also treats the dark spots and blemishes.
Clay is generally found in a face mask which helps to pull out the dust and dirt from the skin. Due to anti-inflammatory properties found in Clay, it helps to calm down the irritated skin.
