My Experience With Nyx Away We Glow Illuminating Powder– Crushed Rose:

Closeup Swatch

After buying NYX high definition blush– baby doll, my husband picked this illuminator and showed me this on a video call to ask if he should buy this for me. Without giving a second thought I said yes! I am always attracted to products that say “illuminating”, “illuminator”, “glow”, “highlighter” etc.

It comes in a sleek black plastic case with a transparent lid. The colours are visible through the transparent lid and this makes it easy to choose the right colour for you. You can reach out the colour you want to purchase looking at the shades in the palette. All the necessary information and ingredients are mentioned behind the palette. the case is nice and sturdy and with this, I can conclude the packaging is good.

NYX Away We Glow Illuminating Powder- Crushed Rose with brush

Basically, this is an illuminating powder with three mattes and one shimmer powder, all four in one palette. I love the concept of having all four powders in one palette. This is a multi-tasking palette and one can choose any colour depending on their liking, mixing and matching the shades or swirling around a brush on all the four colours and applying it directly on to the skin. The three pretty looking matte shades can be applied as a blush and the shimmer shade can be applied as a highlighter alone. If you prefer a shimmer satin blush and love to have a little sheen on your cheekbones you can match the matte shade with shimmer shade in it. I love mixing a single matte shade with the shimmer powder and I prefer using the shimmer powder alone to highlight my nose and cheekbones. Usually, illuminating powders look pretty on swirling all the shades together but this isn’t the case with this palette. I didn’t like the results it delivered. I mean I was not very impressed with the colour it delivered and that didn’t look good on application.

Swatch in light

You have six different shades to choose from this range:
01 Summer Reflection;
02 Shimmer Thrill;
03 Candlelit;
04 Sunset Blvd;
05 Crushed Rose;
06 Brick Road.

Swatch in Dark

When I saw these shades on phone during the video call I liked the shade 01 summer reflection and 05-crushed rose. I loved the shade 05-crushed rose more than 01 summer reflection and decided to buy this one. I was sure these shades would look pretty for my fair skin tone so made a choice between these two palettes. It is important you choose the right shade according to your skin tone otherwise this product will either look chalky or too dark if you go for a wrong shade. 05-crushed rose contains a champagne shade highlight powder, a loveable cool tone of pink, a peach shade and a lighter version of the same peach shade. The champagne highlighter comes with gold micro shimmer in it. This looks absolutely gorgeous on application and I am in love with this shade. I am glad to see how natural it looks on application. It adds a subtle sheen and makes the skin glow. Whereas the matte shades are super soft and blends easily on application. I can say the pigmentation is decent but they aren’t very pigmented. You need to build the colour for the desired look. However, I am not very impressed with there staying power as it stays not more than 4 hours and fades quickly. The highlight powder too fades within hours but still leaves a subtle sheen on the skin even after fading.

Overall I can say it was a good try but this definitely isn’t my favourite illuminating powder. It provides a nice peachy pink flush of colour on cheeks but the staying power disappoints me. I will continue loving the highlighter shade in it and maybe try some other alternative like a setting spray to make it last long. Moving on to its pros and cons.
