Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade – Chocolate Review

Makeup world is so weird.  There are so many brands and so many products out there – we probably haven’t even heard about half of them, let alone try them. About a couple of months back, I wasn’t even aware of the existence of this brand and then suddenly, the name popped up on a conversation regarding brows and it kept popping up – like HG products for most people. I was intrigued and wanted to try, but had no access to it – unavailable in India till I saw it on an online site delivering to India.  Then the big question was to go for Brow Wiz (Brow Pencil) or Dipbrow Pomade (Brow Gel). I finally went with Dipbrow Pomade as it was bit of a multi-functional product.

My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade – Chocolate:

Color:  The colour is….ahem…chocolate brown!! Ok…let me try again – it’s a dark intene shade of brown. I wanted a brown because black anyway does not look natural on eyebrows, plus I have naturally brown hair, so l wanted a shade of deep brown. Honestly, I feel that a shade lighter than this would also have done. However, I had to rely on online swatches since the product had to be ordered online. In online swatches, the shade Chocolate and Dark Brown, seemed very comparable – I was not able to make out which would be darker. So, I went with my gut feel and ordered “Chocolate.”

Pigmentation:  Fantastic pigmentation – a light touch of the brush gives a full burst of colour, which can easily make the eyebrows look fake. So, you really have to use this one very very very lightly!! I can’t emphasis how intensely the product works.

I use a slant brush and lightly dip the brush in the pot, and applying to the eyebrows forming the desired shape. It works beautifully and gives a natural contour if used with a light hand.  It is very easy to go overboard and overcoat the brush – since the product is so creamy and can end up looking fake.

Texture:  The texture is extremely creamy and smooth. It coats the brush easily and efficiently and glides on smoothly – on the brows or the eyelid (as a eyeliner).

Lasting Power:  It is FANTASTIC in longevity segment! It lasts the whole day – 12 hours plus – without fading, without smudging and has to be removed with the makeup remover. It just stays put.

As an eyeliner, this is the beauty of the product, you can use it as an eyeliner as well. That’s the reason I picked this product because I could do with a brown eyeliner as well. All the pros go with it in this role to – the creaminess of the texture and easy glide, enables it to be applied quickly and neatly onto the lids. The longevity seen as an eyeliner is swell. It sets fairly quickly, but does give you time to correct mistakes if required.

Please note that the product acts as a colour and does not really act as a coloured wax to keep stray hair in control. It does not claim to do so either.

There is a mini con to this fantastic product; however – one which can be overcome with enough practice. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting used to a cream/gel product.  Prior to this, I used a eyebrow powder and I feel they are way more effortless to use – chances of you going wrong are negligible. However, with this, it took me about a week to get a hang of it because if overdone, it screams FAKE!!

        1. I used it sparingly in the lone eyebrow pic. But you see better effect in the full face one – and I have such patchy brows – its a miracle worker for me!

        1. I have very sparse ones, so for me, the effect is really face changing! They can look fake if you use the wrong colour or too much product.

  2. 10/5! I haven’t paid much attention to this product because I haven’t been doing my brows but now I’m curious. I like that this shade can be multipurpose. Your brows look fab in that photo. I think MAC has something similar but it might be LE.

    1. I heard that too….MAC had a LE product which was used majorly for brows…was actually an eyeliner. But this, I LOVE! and it stays put as a liner too…if only they did some other colours rather than varying intensities of brown!!

  3. This has been on my wishlist for sooooo long now 🙁
but 1700 bucks is too much for a teen like me to afford at the moment plus not to mention not available in India.

    Your brows look awesome!

    1. Do try it Jomol – thankfully its available online.

Im not sure on the colour Jomol – I recently lost my database of which date what makeup. This is probably Armani Maestro #504.
