Anastasia Beverly Hills Not Today Eyeshadow Review

Packaging:
The shadows come individually packaged in a plastic sleeve – like a refill packaging. The same is then enclosed in a cardboard cover which has the product name and ingredients mentioned on it. Apart from that, the name is also mentioned on the flip side of the eyeshadow itself. I thing the packaging is excellent. Not a single of eyeshadow was shattered upon arrival. The metal pans are easy to pop into a magnetic palette – like a Z palette. Alternatively, you can also pick a empty palette from the ABH site.

My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Not Today Eyeshadow:

Shade:  The shade “Not Today” is a dark purple-toned plum with warm brown undertones and fine silver sparkle/glitter and a understated pearly satin sheen. At first glance, the shade seemed fairly similar to Aubergine (another ABH shade reviewed by me earlier). And it is, because both of them are warm-toned purple-plum shades. I don’t think you need both in your stash – even with one having silver micro glitter while the other is fairly matte. In the FOTD, I have used “Not Today” in the outer half of my lid. I’ll discuss the texture later, but just comparing the finish of the shade with Aubergine, “Not Today” has a satiny sheen which makes the colour look more alive.

Texture:  The texture is a bit different from the other shades. When you touch, it almost feels like your can touch the granularity of the micro glitters. You almost get the feel as if it is going to be one of those shades which are stiff with loads of fall-out and generally difficult to work with. However, that isn’t the case at all. The shade is beautifully smooth and very easy to work with. The satin base makes the eyeshadow glide on easily. The fine silver micro particles don’t create an issue. Honestly, half of them just disappear between the pan and the lid. And whatever does go onto the lid, does not translate into fall out. Even at the end of the day, there was very little fall out on my cheek. The texture isn’t dense like some of the shimmer shades from the line. And it isn’t dusty like some of the mattes in the line. Compared to Aubergine, I found this shade silkier, more easily blend-able and generally easier to work with.

Pigmentation: The shade has excellent pigmentation. It is a rich shade and that is another thing which makes it stand out against Aubergine. The slightest touch of the brush results in deep pigmentation. Would advise you to use the shade with caution. Being as deep as it is, mistakes can be difficult to correct.

Staying Power:  I apply my eyeshadows over a primer because my lids are way too oily. This shade gave about 8 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. With a primer, it does not crease on me.

Pros of Anastasia Beverly Hills Not Today Eyeshadow:

  • A deep warm-toned purple-plum shade with fine silver micro glitter and a satiny sheen.
  • A good shade to define your pink/purple based eye looks.
  • Excellent pigmentation.
  • It does not emphasise texture of my skin.
  • Decent wear time – with primer – about 8 hours.
  • Smooth texture.
  • Easily blendable.
  • Does not have a dense texture which can sometimes s the texture of the lid.
  • Isn’t dusty like some mattes shadows from this range.

Cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills Not Today Eyeshadow:

  • Nothing at all.

IMBB Rating:
4.5/5

The shade looks quite deep and murky in the pan, but is absolutely amazing to work with. I think the texture, the pigmentation and longevity have been worked up well in this case. However, if you are looking for something with actual shimmer/sparkle in it which could show up on the eyes distinctly, you will be underwhelmed by it. Totally recommend!
