Today, I will be reviewing a lipstick from Bobbi Brown’s new range called “Crushed Lip Color.” I was waiting for the launch of these in India since the beginning of time ☺. This is a new range of almost 20 colors from Bobbi Brown crushed lip color. So many bloggers are talking about these lipsticks and I couldn’t keep my hands off them. I picked up two of them – “Bare” and “Bitten.” I could have picked just one, but me being ME, had to buy two (thank God, I did not have money to buy all else I most definitely would have). Both looked very wearable colors, close to n*des as I wanted something for daily wear and not lipsticks that I would wear once in a blue moon. My basic idea is that if I am spending so much, I should rather be able to use that product daily. Let’s see how “Bitten” turned out for me.
The look of a lipstick meets the feel of a balm for our most wearable lip yet. Loaded with crushed pigments and lip-loving ingredients, it’s the ultimate swipe and go formula.
My Experience with Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bitten:
I love the fact that Bobbi Brown makes lipsticks which are heavy. I do not like lightweight products personally, that’s a personal liking anyway ☺ . It comes in a black cardboard box with ingredients and shade written on the top. The lipstick tube is black and it has a color-coded band in the middle. Once you open the cap, the inside of the lipstick matches the shade of the lipstick. The black part is matte and color-coded part is glossy. It’s a regular twist-on bullet lipstick.
“Bitten” to me is an everyday pink color for slightly fairer skin tones; not MLBB but prettier baby pink.
To give you more perspective of the shade, I picked up similar tones from my stash and swatched it along with the lipstick – MAC Mehr, Colorbar Amber, ABH Dusty Rose, and Bobbi Brown Bare. If you see Bitten is the pinkest of them all in true sense, no mauve or purple undertones, pure pretty pink.. it’s a perfect color for college-going girls who wish to apply lipsticks but not too much in the face.
The texture of the lipstick is balmy, well, the product also says so. It’s a balm with high pigmentation. If I am asked to put across a simplest description, it would be to call this lipstick a pigmented balm. To get the desired color intensity, you need to smear the lipstick quite generously on your lips. My lip swatch is a result of multiple swipes. It has that characteristic old school lipstick smell, I guess all Bobbi lipsticks have the same kind of fragrance.
The texture of the lipstick is smooth and glides effortlessly on the lips, there is no tug or pull. Since it’s a balm, it is definitely moisturizing but not long lasting. It transfers easily and goes off eventually after a light snack or heavy meal, leaving the lips moisturized. This has a heavy feel to it, when you apply, you do feel the product on your lips and when it wears off. It wears off uniformly and does not cling to dry patches. This lip color has all the qualities of a lip balm and less of a lipstick. There is no staining issue with this color.
Pros of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bitten:
- Great shade for everyday wear.
- Lip balm with some color intensity.
- Lighter than actual balms and lip glosses.
- Rich in vitamin E, C, and beeswax.
- No tugging pulling, glides easily.
- Beautiful color-coded bullet.
Cons of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bitten:
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bitten?
This is a high-end brand and of good quality. There is nothing outstanding about the product everything seems normal and perfect. If you are looking for a similar shade and have price point to afford, this is a keeper.
