C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint – Violet Mint Review

The product in this post is one of the three products that I bought from my recent visit to Bath and Body Works. I had previously reviewed the lemon lip cream and night balm (from the same brand) before and thoroughly enjoyed using them. In fact, I loved them so much that they have replaced my Burt’s Bees lip balms and I look forward to buying a few more products from C.O Bigelow in the future. Product Description:
This overnight recovery lip balm works overtime, moisturizing and nourishing lips with rich Shea Butter for 8 hours, leaving them soft and smooth. Developed by Bigelow chemists. Not tested on animals. Apply liberally to lips before bedtime for intense moisturizing.

My Take on C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint – Violet Mint:

I had never heard of this brand before; even though I visit Bath and Body Works outlet so often (that’s the retail store which carries this brand). Until recently, I never bothered to check anything else except lotions and shower gels, hence I am glad that my friend decided to gift this product to me because now I have a new brand in my collection and a reason to check out other products available in B&BW store as well.

Lip tint

Packaging: Tube packaging, nearly the size of my palm, with a slant tip nozzle which can be used as an applicator. There’s also a twist-up cap to protect it. The nozzle has a tiny hole to dispense the product when the tube is squeezed and a generous amount of lip cream comes out which can be slathered on the lips.

CO Bigelow

Texture: Very thick, but not gooey or sticky, spreads easily. It does not form a thick layer on the lips, just a thin film with glossy, water-shine finish. It feels like a lubricant which can lower friction and prevent wear and tear.

Color: Although it is meant to add a pink tint to the lips, it’s very subtle and gives a near-transparent finish to the products.

Shimmer and Shine: It has a water-shine like finish.

Fragrance: The first time that I tried lemon lip cream, it had a very unpleasant smell, like stale mineral oil with undertones of lemon fragrance, hence I was a bit skeptical about other products from this brand as well, but this product has a very cooling mint fragrance, it’s not artificial because it does contain 2% peppermint oil.

Wear Time: It wears more than most of the lip balms and salves that I have used in the past. It tastes sweet, like literally sweet. It prevented my lips from chapping or drying up and the most important feature – it did not make my lips addicted to it, the way EOS does 😛 One applied, C.O. Bigelow lip cream keeps my lips moisturized for a long time and I don’t have to reapply it every few minutes.

It gives a very strong tingling sensation soon after application because of the presence of peppermint oil, but that sensation is neither uncomfortable nor long lasting; it soon dies down and leaves a faint cooling sensation behind.
