I recently went a little gaga over eye makeup products. I was looking for an eyeshadow base and came across this mousse. Todays’ review is all about City Color Rose Gold Mousse for Eyes.

My Experience with City Color Rose Gold Mousse:

The product comes in a sealed plastic packaging. This mousse comes in a transparent glass pot with a black screw cap. The design reminds me of products from Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade. You can see the colour through the glass.

The screw cap is very small and if you have long nails, it can be a little tricky to open as your nails would hit the glass package, but the screw cap is pretty tight. Once the cap is opened, there is another layer of protection and this makes the product not stick to the cap and thus is mess free! The stopper is not very tight and is very easy to open and close.

The mousse is thick and creamy. The color is rose and is very sparkly. The mousse smells like Fevikwick and is bothersome. The mousse has a beautiful rose gold shade. The shade is light and looks more silvery than the intense dark rose gold. The shade looks pinkish and I like it. The texture is very soft and is similar to the soft texture of Lakme mousse. The shelf life is 6 months. There are 3 shades currently available: White Pearl, Rose gold and White gold.

The advantage of this mousse is that it can be used as a multipurpose product. It can be used as a base, or on top as an eyeshadow or can be used as a creamy highlighter. The mousse being creamy is very easy to work with and can be easily spread and blended. The product however settles into the skin very fast and thus, you need to work with it faster or else it settles down.

The mousse makes an amazing eye makeup base. It sits on the skin and doesn’t come off if I slightly rub my fingers on it. The shiny light texture makes the eye makeup pop out and it holds the makeup. When I use it as an eyeshadow, the product lasts for more than 8-10 hours if I do not rub my eyes. It doesn’t settle into the eye crease which is a big plus. It can also be used in the inner corner of the eyes and it doesn’t cause any irritation. I have used it as a cheek highlighter too but I still don’t know how to work with this creamy one and it settles onto my skin soon and I need to rub a lot to blend it which is not good for the skin. However, I have noticed that this mousse can become a bit messy on skin over the period of time if touched. The very tiny silvery particles settle all over my face and this can be a bit annoying because the silvery sparkles stays for a long period of time. The product is not tested on animals and is cruelty free. I absolutely love the sheen finish but this product is not for a beginner and I am still struggling to know a way of working faster on this product.
