I love the Ultra Satin lip formula from ColourPop and today, I will be reviewing the shade “Mess Around” from the same range. So, let’s see how this shade fared.

Product Description:
Mess around down town in this mid-tone greige. A creamy, bold lipstick with a satin finish. This formula has the same high percentage of pigments as an Ultra Matte Lip but contains emollient ingredients for added moisture, keeping lips looking fresh and feeling super comfortable. Though
this lipstick is super long-wearing, it is not completely kiss-proof and does transfer.

My Experience with ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip Mess Around:

Packaging: The packaging is a standard clear tube with holographic writing on the side which mentions ColourPop Ultra Satin. The side of the tube specifies the name “Mess Around.” The tube has a silver cap. The applicator is a standard doe-foot type. Overall, the packaging is lightweight and travel friendly.

Texture and Application: The texture of this liquid lipstick is a bit mousse-y and liquid-y. The main difference between ultra-matte and ultra-satin is that the ultra-satin formula doesn’t dry completely matte. It dries velvety matte within a few minutes once you apply it on to the lips, so if there are any errors during application, you can easily correct it. The doe-foot applicator makes it easy to fill in the corners of the lips with ease. There is a chemical fragrance to the lipstick which personally doesn’t bother me. Another major difference between the ultra-matte and ultra-satin is that the latter does not give kiss-proof or budge-proof finish. It does transfer a lot; however, it is very long lasting. It would be better if you can exfoliate your lips to achieve a flawless finish. The ultra-satin formula doesn’t dry your lips and gives a smooth finish. It’s the most comfortable liquid lipstick formula.

Pigmentation and Coverage: The lipstick is super pigmented and super opaque. It gives a full coverage even if the lips are pigmented.

Shade and Finish: The shade is described as a “mid-toned greige” and it is indeed a very grunge warm brownish grey colour. This shade is very unique. It will work well for all skin tones. When you first apply the lipstick, it will look like satiny finish; however, it turns matte as the time passes by. You can also blot it with paper if you need an instant matte lip look.

Staying Power: The staying power is really good with this lipstick. It stays on for around 6 hours without the need to reapply; however, it will start to fade if you eat oily meals. It does stain my lips pink. Overall I am really happy with the colour pay off, the texture and the longevity of the lipstick. The lipstick can be easily removed with an oil-based makeup remover.
