Dental Jewelry : Cosmetic Makeovers in dentistry

I should have written this a long before but thanks to my lazy bones and hectic schedule i couldn’t. So, here i am again with one of the most popular procedure in cosmetic dentistry- DENTAL JEWELRY . 🙂

This is in continuation with my first article on cosmetic dentistry:

Want to add that extra sparkles to your lovely smile? Tooth gems are the answer.

Once you have decided to go for that extra ‘’oomph’’ in your smile, look for the best dentist in your area. You can choose the gem, its colour and crystal type on your own including the tooth you want your crystal to be on. I would name a few brands here- SKYCE, IVACLOR VIVADENT, KRYST(my personal preference). But again keeping the brand is up to your dentist. The tooth selected should be in healthy and sound condition. Generally, people prefer canines (the edgiest ones) and lateral incisors (adjacent to canines). The pic above is showing the crystal on lateral incisor tooth.

As they say it, its a lunch time procedure taking 10-15 minutes only.
It is a non drilling and completely painless procedure

Your dentist will begin with your complete oral prophylaxis (scaling+polishing). This procedure takes time depending upon the stains and deposits present on your teeth
Later then, the crystal is attached on the selected tooth using an adhesive material. This procedure is technique sensitive requiring compete isolation of tooth without any salivary contamination. Your dentist will take care of that .
Let the crystal set for 5-10 minutes and are done 🙂
Whats best, these can be removed at your will and since no drilling is required you get back your original smile without any consequences. Later if you want, these can be re fitted or even if you want a change in your tooth gem colour, you can go for it without bothering keeping in mind all this should be done by your dentist only .

dental bling

THE EXPENSE : In India they can cost you anywhere between rs 5000-20,000 depending upon what kind of crystal you want (we apply diamonds too 🙂 )

Tooth gems really were the ‘in’ thing back in my college. I got it done once in past and will go for them again once i make up my mind for ortho treatment. Seriously, there’s no harm in trying them but do select a good dentist who can assure you how they will look on you after the procedure .

Go ahead , make a my-kinda-tooth fashion statement. Keep smiling . 🙂

Since my bf is my age only, so the plan is as soon as they talk of my marriage thingy, i will get the braces done to give my bf some more time professionally n cuz of my own clinic i wont have to seek my parent’s permission:)
