My Take on ELF Essential Lipstick – Captivating:

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a carefully packed card-box packaging with all the information printed on the backside. The lipstick has silver packaging and transparent lipstick chamber. Aesthetically, the packaging is good but awful in quality; the twist-up mechanism is poor and jammed and gives trouble, at least the piece that I have has issues.

Texture and Finish: The texture of the lipstick is very creamy and excellent in moisturizing lips. It keeps the lips soft and smooth for hours after application through the moisture it imparts. The finish is very glossy and I like that. It has a strong berry scent which I really dislike because it reminds me of the cough syrups I used to have in my childhood.

Colour and Pigmentation: The shade is a natural brown shade with a slight hue of orange. It complements most of the outfits I wear. The shade will suit every skin tone. The pigmentation is not rich, but neither disappointing. One swipe transfers 60% color and 2-3 swipes make it 100% with desirable opacity. The coverage becomes semi-opaque then, making it suitable for pigmented lips too.

Longevity:  The staying power is 4 hours maximum without any sips in between. You eat a meal and it is totally gone, without any stain. It’s a wee bit transferable to mugs and glasses and starts feathering after one hour of application, slightly settling into lines and fades unevenly without leaving behind any stain.
