My Experience with ESPA Optimal Skin ProCleanser:
I had heard and read about ESPA, and hence picked up a few face and body skincare products for myself. Before I start, let me tell you I have a combination skin, which is sensitive. It tends to dry easily and, at the same time, gets irritated or breaks out in summers. So today I will be sharing my views about ESPA Optimal Skin ProCleanser, which is an exfoliating cleanser cum mask.
It’s a white coloured gel with soft, smooth granules. It gets applied easily, does not hurt or feel scratchy. Jojoba granules are ultra-soft and they feel smooth and soothing against the skin. Initially, I started using this pro cleanser on a daily basis as a regular morning face cleanser.
First, I would moisten my facial and neck skin with warm water. Then, take a dollop of this pro cleanser in my palms and use my fingers lightly to massage this all over my face and neck, until the jojoba spheres melted. I would wait for five minutes before washing it off with warm water.
Even after washing with warm water, the skin would feel a bit oily, as if some serum or cream has been applied. This feeling goes away after some time, leaving the skin smooth and soft. The cleanser gives a radiant glow to my face and skin feels softer and smoother. It firms and tones the skin, making it look younger. Once a week, I used to leave this cleanser on my face for ten to fifteen minutes.
This became my daily regime but a few days later I realised that it was making my skin a bit dry and stretchy. So, I stopped using it on a daily basis and started using it thrice a week. This routine was okay for me until I noticed that I started getting some breakouts on my face, especially when I left this formula on my skin for ten to fifteen minutes. I was a bit confused. It was either the product not suiting my skin type or my skin misbehaving due to extremely hot summers!
I was in a dilemma, so I completely stopped using this product. Meanwhile someone at home started using this product and it started showing brilliant results, without any irritation or side effects. Wow! I asked if they’re using the clenaser on a daily basis and the reply was a definite yes. The person I am referring here has a normal skin type, by the way.
So here was the catch: this product does have something that irritates and breaks out my sensitive skin. Well, that does not mean it will not suit other people with sensitive skins. Two days ago, I again tried this product and I got one or two tiny bumps on my face, which will eventually dry up or go away. It either makes my skin dry and stretchy, or I get one or two bumps.
I am definitely not repurchasing this cleanser for myself at least. I have used this cleanser on and off over a period of three months before finally reviewing it. Overall, it’s a good product, which does not suit my skin type. In my opinion, this product is okay for normal skin type. Combination, dry, sensitive and oily skin types should try a sample or travel size first before opting for the full size.
