Being at the beauty center is like visiting a huge candy store for me. As soon as I enter it, I feel overwhelmed by the amount of makeup in there. The endless rows displaying colourful and neatly arranged makeup. I love that feeling. I’d love to get locked in a beauty centre once! 😛 Lets leave the beautiful dream there and come back to today’s product which is a black eye shadow. This one’s been on my to-buy list since ages! Well, since half a year, but every time I go to the Essence counter it gets sold out. This time I told the S.A to keep one reserved for me. And bless her, she did keep one for me. Let’s see how this one fares!
My Experience with Essence Mono Eyeshadow – 04 Black Goddess:
Packaging: Typical Essence Mono Eye Shadow packaging of transparent body with the name of the brand in black, at the front. The shade name and number and some other details are at the back. When you open the shadow, you see the gorgeous pan filled to the brim with the product. I must admit that opening the eye shadow gets a little difficult sometimes. It closes with an audible click, I love that sound 🙂 . It’s very convenient and is travel friendly.
Colour/Pigmentation: I always thought that Black Goddess was an intense black shadow with no glitter/shimmer. I was wrong. This one is a shimmery black eye shadow. I like this one. Black is such a versatile shade and this one isn’t intense. It’s a soft muted black. It almost looks greyish when swatched once. The pigmentation is okayish. You have to build it up. But one good thing about it is that you can always build up the colour. Blacks are difficult to work with especially for beginners such as myself. So soft muted black helps to avoid beginner mistakes.
Texture: One thing I’m loving about this Essence eye shadow is its texture. So far, the texture is so smooth! It doesn’t feel heavy at all on the lids. There’s hardly any fallout from this shadow. Since these are glitter based ones, I expected a little fall out here and there, but boy, these do not budge at all! I’m loving these shadows! They blend in so easily!
Staying Power: Another thing that I’m loving about this Essence eye shadow is its staying power. It stays upto 4 hours and even longer without a primer. They do fade a little bit, but it’s hardly noticeable. With a primer, it would easily last so much longer.
Summing up the pros and cons,
Pros of Essence Mono Eyeshadow – 04 Black Goddess:

- No fall out.
- Good staying power.
- Easy to blend.

- Smooth and silky texture.
Cons of Essence Mono Eyeshadow – 04 Black Goddess:
- Pigmentation might be a con for some.
