I have been playing with this product for over a month and finally ready to review it for you. The brand name itself is an eye-catcher. Add to it, a different kind of product – I hope it makes for an interesting read.
Giorgio Armani Fluid sheers are an old product, around since 2009. However, the formula and the packaging were revamped last year. A few shades were added and a few dropped out. The product line is interestingly different since there is a great shade variation – so depending on the shade you pick, you could be using a highlighter, a bronzer or a blush. The product I am reviewing today is a highlighter – let’s find out more about it.
Fluid sheer dresses skin in an illuminating veil of radiance. This unique, translucent formula is available in a range of versatile hues including makeup base shades, correcting shades, and radiance boosting shades. Blend your favorite fluid sheer with foundation to add radiance, polish and sculpting definition to your complexion. Or use it alone as a makeup base. All skin types. Perfects, sculpts and illuminates skin, complete and versatile shade range, doubles as eye shadow base, blush or bronzer. Sheer, lightweight texture and coverage.
Apply with the blender brush to wear alone or mixed with foundation for a boost of radiance and color. Use on top of foundation for added highlighting and contouring. Won InStyle’s “Best 2012 Highlighter” for the 3rd year.
USD $62 / AED 220– about INR 3740 for 30 ml.
The product comes in a thick glass bottle with the GA logo displayed on the cap middle. As with the GA lipsticks, the bottle is inversely elliptical in shape. The product gets dispensed through a pump. The product comes packaged in a typical Armani black cardboard box.
My Experience with Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #4:
I am currently obsessed with highlighters and I am experimenting with quite a few of them from different brands. I will be reviewing more highlighters in the coming month.
Shade/Color: The shade I had shortlisted for buying was no. 10 – a beige gold shade. However, since it was not available in Sephora, I was pushed no. 04 by the Armani SA. Initially, I was skeptical about the shade because it looked scary yellow in the bottle as well as once pumped out. However, once sheered out, it gave a nice yellow-gold shimmer highlight. The shade has a nice sheen to it which would look especially gorgeous on darker skin tone as well as on body.
It gives a very natural glow with a golden sheen. It doesn’t look over the top at all. There is no yellowness once applied. Though, on very fair skin, it could end up adding warmth to the skin.
The product is fairly runny in consistency. This is a highlighter which can be used above, below or mixed-in with the foundation, it will work well on all but the glow it gives, will differ.
Mixed in with foundation: This is easy to do with liquid foundation since the product is fairly runny. You have to ensure you don’t go overboard with the amount, else it may make the foundation too runny and apply streaky. Used in the right quantity, it adds life to the foundation and your face. I have used this mixed in with my Estee Lauder Doublewear and Guerlain foundations and applied with hand/stippling brush/sponge – with all of them it gave fantastic lit from within glow.
It can be used all over the face before applying foundation or mixed in with your moisturizer. The effect under foundation is obviously subtler. However, if you use powder foundation on top of this, the effect will be pretty much lost.
It can also be patted on as a traditional highlighter to the high points of the face – above the cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow. It creates a beautiful golden shimmer/sheen – which does not look white or yellow – rather, comes out looking like a very natural glow – like good skin. I get about 6.5 – 7 hours of wear time on my oily skin. Also, it does not effect the base makeup and does not move it, unlike Benefit highlighters which tend to move my blush aside!
I like how yellow it is, which also helps correct the tint of my Guerlain foundation to an extent – which is beige and not yellow enough for my liking.
