Hello sweeties,
I have this soft corner for gel liners but it’s a bit tedious to take that brush, dip it in the pot, and then apply. I love how brands have incorporated gel liner formulas into retractable eye pencils. I picked up the shade “Black Brown” as I have never really tried using brown eyeliners. My Experience with It Cosmetics Black-Brown No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner:
Packaging: The gel liner comes in a basic black packaging with silver fonts over it. The packaging is slim like any other eye pencil. Initially, when I used this, I thought this had to be sharpened, but later when I started to use it, I loved that it was a retractable one, so there is no tension of sharpening it all the time. They have also attached a little sharpener if you want your eyeliner to be super pointy. It is very handy and easily fits into the pocket too. The price is a bit expensive and we would surely find cheaper alternatives for this one, but since it is a premium brand, so the pricing is according to that only.
Shade: The shade “Black Brown” is a beautiful shade which is more of a brown, but it is not that typical light brown color. It is a dark brown which looks soft and pretty on the eyes. On the eyes, from far, it looks just like black, but when observed closely, it shows a soft brown shade. This is great for those days when I do not want to use the typical black shade. It is very versatile and will be a great shade for college and office too.
Pigmentation and Consistency: The gel eyeliner formula is just amazing. It glides on very nicely under my eyes and on the waterline. Initially, it was very creamy to use, but as time passed by, the consistency hardened and I would have to put pressure to apply it. No doubt, it got applied nicely but the consistency and texture changed.
Staying Power: The staying power on the waterline is somewhere around 3 hours but under the eyes or over the lids, it is 6-7 hours. While I am happy with the staying power, I could also say that any gel liner would last this long as well.
Pros of It Cosmetics Black-Brown No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner:

- Lot of basic shades to choose from in this range.
- Gel formula in a pencil form.
- Creamy and glides very smoothly.
- Dark, pigmented color.
- Beautiful brown shade which looks very natural and soft.
- Smudge-proof.
- No sharpening.
- Little sharpener provided.
- Does not irritate eyes at all.
- Stays for 6-7 hours on the eyelids.
Cons of It Cosmetics Black-Brown No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner:
- The consistency is super creamy initially, but then the bullet hardens up.
- Lasting power is average if you compare it to other gel liners.
- Cheaper alternatives available.
- Limited availability in India.
Would I Repurchase It Cosmetics Black-Brown No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner?
No, I don’t think I will get it again and the only reason for not buying this or not recommending this liner is because it changes its consistency over time. Initially, it is very fresh, but slowly it hardens up. There are so many better and cheaper alternatives available in the market!
