I had never tried an overnight mask and this one seemed like a good option. My previous experience with Kiehl’s skin care products was also good. So thought of giving this overnight mask a try. I must say, it didn’t disappoint me. 🙂

At night: Cleanse and tone your face with the cleanser and toner of your choice, then apply your eye area treatment if desired. Apply a generous layer of the masque onto clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Use a tissue or towel to remove excess but leave a thin layer intact to continuously replenish skin’s moisture throughout the night. Do not rinse.
In the morning: Wash your face using the Kiehl’s cleanser of your choice. Then follow your normal skincare routine.
Due to the potency of this formula , we recommend using it no more than 1-2 times per week for optimal results.
My Expericne with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque:
It comes in a simple tub packaging that’s white in color. The screw on cap works good and is quite travel friendly. It has all the details over the packaging – me likey! Since the brand claims that this mask is very “potent”, I feel that this tub packaging isn’t really a good idea, assuming such packagings lead to loss of nutrients. I would have preferred a tube. But anyway, the packaging is very sturdy and user-friendly.
As you open the bottle an extra cover welcomes you, which is difficult to take off. But I have not removed it since I want all the active ingredients to sustain for as long as possible. After removing this cover a bit, you can smell it; to me, it smells funny. It is fragrance free, as claimed by the brand, but I guess all the ingredients together create this peculiar smell – something like a nail polish remover’s. Upon application, this smell vanishes, so I am not complaining here. It costs rupees 2400, which is insane but it is economical as it lasts really long. I just need a coin size amount for my entire face and neck for one time.
The mask is gel based and it spreads very very easily. When I start massaging it, it starts looking and spreading like butter. This mask is very easy to use – I massage it once a week after cleansing and toning my face. Keep it on for around ten minutes and then, as advised, wipe it off with a tissue. I sleep with this mask on (since it is an overnight mask :P). It never gets totally absorbed into the skin and I can feel it when I go to my bed.
Initially, it feels a little oily and sticky; say for around ten minutes. After that, you either fall asleep or get used to it. Either way, it does not create any discomfort. It does not stain my pillow cover, does not transfer to my hair, does not make me sweat and does not feel heavy on the skin. It is very comfortable.
In the morning, I wash my face with just water. When I pat my face dry, I notice well moisturised and hydrated skin. My skin also feels very plump, supple and healthy. The first time I had applied this mask, I was expecting my skin to look oily, but it actually made my skin look good. And also, induced a nice, natural glow. The glow does remain there for around 2 days and my dry skin (during winters) does not feel parched or dry for around a week. As claimed, it actually amplifies the hydration provided by my daily moisturizer. It is actually like a very heavy moisturiser that delivers prolonged effects.
One weird thing I have noticed about this mask is that it makes my skin retain excess moisture, and it appears as if my face is puffy or bloated. Of course, I do not like this factor. But, this does not happen with each usage. Sometimes, my skin is moisturised, plump and smooth while at other times, it is moisturised, plump and smooth…and bloated. Another thing which I dislike is the fact that it makes my pores appear larger for initial 5-6 hours in the morning.
Overall it is a very very good mask for people with tired and very dry skin. The brand claims that it is meant for all skin types, so maybe everyone can use it. There are unlimited moisture masks available that deliver good results. What makes this one stand out is the fact that its results last for some days and skin looks radiant for longer.

Would I Repurchase Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque?
If I am ever able to finish this pack, I would repurchase it during winters.
Would I Recommend Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque?
You can try it if it fits your budget and if you have very dry skin. It is not a must-have, but definitely one of the best store-bought products available for dry, parched skin. It is a very good one for older women also as it can make their skin look more radiant and plump.
