Hello my loves!
Today’s review will be on a product that I’ve been eyeing forever. I’m really loving liquid lipsticks these days and wanted to buy these LA Girl ones ever since they had been launched in the West. Finally, they are available in India and I just couldn’t wait to try these. I picked up two shades from this range – “Instinct” and “Secret.” Let’s find out more about ‘Secret’ and how it fared on me.
Introducing our hottest new lip product – Matte Pigment Gloss. These 16 bold shades provide rich, intense color in a flat finish for all day wear. The long wearing formula goes on as a high pigmented liquid and dries to a flat matte finish. Leaving lips colored in gorgeous velvety perfection that lasts and lasts.
My Experience with L.A. Girl Secret Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss:
Packaging: This liquid lipstick comes in a stout and somewhat cute packaging. You can see the shade from outside, so spotting it becomes easy. It has a flat applicator which is okay to apply the product, I’d have preferred a better applicator though. The packaging is very convenient and travel friendly.
Color/Pigmentation: “Secret’ is a bold vampy berry shade. It looks absolutely beautiful when swatched. I absolutely love bold vampy lips and that’s the reason why I picked up this shade. It’s just so bold and out there. It is much pigmented and you get a lot of pigment in one swipe, but I just don’t know why it sometimes applies very smoothly and sometimes it goes so damn patchy! But one advantage this shade has over ‘Instinct’ is that since it is so dark, the patchiness isn’t as stark as that with “Instinct.” You can barely notice it.
Texture: The gloss is thick and goes on patchy sometimes and sometimes will go on smoothly and apply normally like a regular liquid lipstick. It dries matte in about 30-40 seconds. It is extremely drying on my lips. It just makes my lips as dry as a desert. It goes on patchy if I apply lip balm underneath. When you purse your lips, the pigment gets transferred. You can see how the pigment just gets transferred to the lower lip in the swatches. When you smile too big, it’ll crack up at random spots and make your lips look like prunes. I just don’t know how the texture of a liquid lipstick can go so wrong. I just don’t like it.
Staying Power: It stays on forever and ever. It takes a hell lot of time to remove it with my cleanser and then I read that you should remove it with an oil-based cleanser. I tried that, but still it just hurt my lips badly. So, I just started wiping my lips with just a wet wipe and saw that it removed the pigment but it sort of crumbled into a fine powder – gross! But it was far easier and less painful to remove that way. In a way, it’s just a strong lip paint in a liquid lipstick bottle.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase L.A. Girl Secret Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss?
I would still prefer this shade as it doesn’t show up that patchy as the shade ‘Instinct’. I really love this shade, but would recommend to try out other brands. I would look out for the same shade but in different brands.
